  • After listening to most of their "not Top 10 or 40" songs, they were definitely not the typical New Wave-'80s synth-pop group...the music is more experimental, innovative, and damned ingenious!

  • One of my most fav songs...a masterpiece.

  • Fantastic song!!!

  • Ive heard this song for so long, which album is it on, i cant seem to find that or perhaps its not on one.

  • @swawesome2427 Its from Songs from the Big Chair, album. ;)

  • If you're ever mad at someone, listen to this and try to stay mad,,,, mission impossible !!!

  • I remember buying this entire album just for "Head Over Heels", but back then, I was only looking for songs I remembered from my childhood that played on the radio. Anything that I hadn't heard before, or anything modern that had just come out, I pretty much just automatically shunned it because I wasn't familiar with it. Then I heard this song and that entire mentality of mine just burned like a cane field in a high wind.

  • The best way to appreciate this song is to be driving a '65 Mustang convertible, top down, on I-15 across the desert between Vegas and Barstow, after midnight, with the entire expanded, cloudless night sky full of stars. Turn the volume up, set the cd player on repeat and enjoy!

  • 100th liker

  • English music is so brilliant.. In Italy is almost impossible to find songs like these.. now and then..

  • this IS their best song

  • work at pier one

    listen to this song

    sleep at day time

    go to church

    let go of the past

plan to move to Europe someday

open heart open mind open ears closed mouth

bleed a little each day and heal every night

  • this song is to trippy

  • I saw them at Hammersmith Odeon 1985, it was fantastic. :)

  • Yes, one of the best songs

  • o my god like what the hell this is the worst song on the albu they should of took it off what was roland andcurtis thinking when they made this song

  • This music makes me float away...

  • Music can be simple fun. Music can be Art. This is Art! Result: Goosebumps ...

  • Not sure why georgesman33 and elitedesolater are arguing. This is one of the ultimate chill out and feel good tracks..so please do so. A chord here, a chord there. work together and work it out....

  • i fucking love this song!

  • i fell high when i listen to the playing instrument of this songs it sames you were flying so high...imo one among millions of listener of TFF music..i love it...

  • som perfeito!!is perfect!!

  • this has been bugging me for a while. What kind of "scale" does Tears for Fears use? There are so many songs that are composed seemingly in the "in between" scales. This song seems to be in a key between C major and C# major but not either.

Does anyone know why they do so and how they do so? I'd imagine they'll have to tune any non-synthesizer instrument to that slightly higher key.

  • @elitedesolator Dude, it's in D dorian...

  • @georgesman33 No it's not. D Dorian sounds like D minor. This song is done in a key in between C major and C# major. Please don't reply if you don't know music theory or don't have a good enough ear to distinguish between two very very different keys.

  • @elitedesolator lol man listen to the song, the 2 chords are Dm9 and G7, and actually, these chords are i and IV of the D dorian scale. I'm studying music in college so don't tell me I don't know music :P!

  • @georgesman33 Music in college and you have that ear? Please stick a chromatic tuner right next to the song next time you play it and then tell me again the chords are Dm9 and G7.

  • @elitedesolator If you're using such thing, you should know that it can't tell you everynotes it ears and it happens that old songs are detuned :P Anyway, these are the chords: From 0:00 to 1:26 it's Dmin9 and G (so dorian scale) After, from 1:26 and 1: 49, the chords are: Bmaj7, Emaj7, Dmaj7, Amaj7 so it is modal. Are you happy now?

  • Oh and you have my ears, my keyboard and my harmonicas against you

  • @elitedesolator Don't fuck with real musicians!

  • Nothing to comment really, this band is great all around! The songs and music made by TFF is a brilliant piece of work and art. Nearly every song is just fantastic to listen to. My friends, that's what we CALL or CALLED the music!

Listen, The Working Hour, Pharaohs and many more....my all time favourites. The band that stays in my heart untill my very last breath. I ask to play this song when it's my funeral.

  • For true T'f'F fans, this is a very NON-guilty pleasure. Chiming in with other comments, this remains my all-time fave piece of theirs...wish I could find a live version!

  • Yeh, I would agree with iflowboy--it is their greatest piece of work.

I never get fed up with playing this.

  • Another peice of music, that due to record companies popularising and packaging the modern artist, that very few get to hear. This is their greatest peice of work and is outstanding. I have had their Songs From The Big Chair Album (of which this is off) for nearly 20 years and it still sends shivers down my spine. One of the true peices of music that allows you to escape the world and be totally absorbed by it from start to finish...

  • @iflowboy i agree with this modern music it's nothing like the late 70's and through the 80's which i loved growing up in.

  • come back, buzby no--baby

give me joy and l'amour and ,make me

    at peace again xx

  • There is something magical, mythical, mysterious, dreamy about this song.

Last track on side 2 of the album.

Never tire of listening to this.

  • Is that Kate Bush?

  • Listen is such a powerful song and calms my puppy

  • Listen is such a powerful song

  • when ever I hear this, my spine begins to bend. I feel alive and awakened. Every time.

  • Those guys are geniuses. Now why the music market of today don't recognize geniuses anymore?

    makes me sad

  • my, what a great track. I accidentally met Curt Smith in 1990, cool guy, Roland was the main man and wrote the music though. He was so perfectionist that he was slow to hit the market and things moved on, still great even now

  • @Magus9891 wow i also met curt around 1990 i think.aintn sure the year but 100%sure i shook hands n talked with Curt for like 5-10mins..he was so kool

  • Just realized what it says just can't pronounce it.

  • I CAN'T LISTEN CAUSE I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOUR SAYING

  • jojoelpc92. You might be right if this weren't a lyric. But. This is music. The lyric doesn't have to make sense. Its called "creative license", it just has to fit into the metric.

  • The phrase is "compleanos chica no que cullpa se" Which means, it not your fault birthday girl in Spanish. Remember, Roland is part Spanish.

  • @thenewmexican64 That would make no sense in Spanish, what they really say is "Cumpleaños chica, no hay que preocuparse..."

  • oomayamayamachickashe! it should be in the dictionary!

  • melhor deles

  • Fanstatic song . All time TFF song never forgoten....

  • Awesome song.

  • This is one of my favorite songs by Tears for Fears. This group was the first concert I went to see by myself, I was 12 years old.

  • Thats nice. I never seen them before in a concert. My mother she's a big fan of them. :)

  • @Skykid99 i never saw them in concert but i did meet Curt once in real..a great day i will never forget..he was very kool & polite..even waited for me to come out the office as my friend spotted him walking around the city...talking about being in the right place@ the right time..lucky me..got his autograph and have no idea where i left it..this was back in around 1990 or so

  • @msnhill
