Given proper context, new folk do get to hear Kate's old songs. It's called word of mouth and people easily running into her stuff online. There's also more than one way to approach a cover. Some approaches are brilliant and pay homage. Others do a disservice.

This approach misses. Colossally. It's not even in 12/8 time signature any longer. Vocal acrobatics heard here, all the rage now, just sounds contrived when there's no heart to the soul.

This is what I hear with all the acrobatic vocal layering, namely from the chorus start of "all yours ..." Acrobatic, as belting it out just isn't there. Further, there's no sense of originality being added, no definable signature that's uniquely Ms. Pt's.

Yes, I love the original, but I'm also a musician. This approach (balkan/klezmer) works quite well, while other arrangements with an musical score close to the original would be just copies. This one is at least unique. Rating this the worst cover you ever heard gives the impression of a limited frame of musical reference on your side.

It's impossible to do this anywhere near as good as kate bush, so why even try? to me it sounds terrible, I suppose it's all opinion, but the people I know that have heard it, all hate it. I can't see how anybody could like it. This version doesn't give you the message of the song as easy, either.
