I once had a clip of Linus pronouncing it differently and he also said that he wouldn't dare pronounce it anyway other than lihn-ucks in front of Americans or he would be in trouble, so it sounds like they got to him in this clip. Probably threatened his citizenship or something.
@longjohnson413 We are the few, the proud, the defiant, the grammatically and logically correct. If Linus = Lie-nus then Linux = Lie-nux. If it's a play on Linus' name, why do the majority not pronounce it like Linus' name?
I used iMovie, actually. Imported each frame as if they were movie clips, adjusted the length of each "clip," and exported as a Quicktime. iMovie's video compression algorithm may have done some tweening, but my process was just flipbook-style.

Lie-nus + You-nix = Lie-nucks makes sense
Lie-nus + You-nix = Lih-nucks makes no sense

@aliancemd yes it is, that is the same sound recording he made years ago in an .au file you had to play on redhat 6 to test if the sound was working.

interesting vid. maybe someone will create a new distribution called 'pronounce' linux
A PM friend of mine will not call it Linux, he calls it LIE-nux. Can't get the 'i' right for anything....probably just the Texas accent though

@marc0987654321 i call it lie-nux, but it is a grammatical rule i burned ito my head that forces me to pronounce it that way.

Not bad. What did you use to key the animation frames?
