Well lets see...we bankrupted the Soviet Union during the nuclear arms race, and they collapsed. Id say ending world wide fear of a nuclear war was a pretty major feat and meant security for the entire world. Especially since leading up to the fall of the Soviet Union the fear of a nuclear war was very near and very real.
