What an awful voice Nathan has. He sounds like he is trying to be "soul-ful." He is like the Kenny G of metal. And the guitar playing has no backbone. It just sounds so bad.
No doubt AJ's departure had a big effect on fans but I still think they are a really good band.

Nocturne was HxC.
Midheaven is still HxC but in a less thrash/metal way.
A Violent Strike is easily my 3rd fav. song of theirs. but it's one of like 4 good songs on Midheaven.

That would be true but Tapley wasn't indited until after Nocturne was released and THA were already writing Midheaven. Most of the score was done by either Dean(guitarist), Sean(pianist) and/or Nathan(vocalist).
As a musician, I must disagree. AJ didn't invent some magical new style of playing. He's only amazing cause he sweeps, and is doing the same shit Rush and Dream Theater did before him. I'm not saying he's bad, but fuck, it doesn't take long to learn how to sweep, and playing and reversing the same arpeggios is not difficult.
I'm also a guitarist, and I confirm what you said about sweeping, I even have a video of me sweeping on my youtube page (lol bad advertising). What I meant in my comment was that AJ wrote pretty creative sweeps that blended neo classical aspects into metal, that's why everyone likes AJ so much. Tapley has some pretty fast riffs, and even sweeps too, but it just sounds different and more dull than AJ. The ability to make these techniques actually sound more musical and less robotic belonds to AJ.

i like nocturne, just got it, one complaint is that the album starts out so brutal in the first 3 tracks then his screaming is non-existent throughout the rest of the album. its still a good album, i love the blend of classical guitar and metal

I have to agree with Kevstew on this one. The two new songs didn't cut it for me. But it's only two songs. I won't judge the album based off of them. However, I'm hoping there'll be something in it that truly sets them apart, especially now that (based off of the two songs)they dropped the neoclassical sound. The first time I heard this song I was not a big fan. The more I listen to it though, the more I like it. Now I REALLY like it, it IS good, i'm just not used to the new stuff. I think it is even better the bloodmeat by Protest.
bloodmeat is one of the more boring songs on fortress. I have to be honest. In terms of musicality, it may be the simplest on the album. It's a great opener, and don't get me wrong, but in no way the best on the album. The other songs are just that amazing.
But with that said, Bloodmeat is a stunningly amazing song.

Bloodmeat is still a relatively difficult song instrumentally, just not for Protest. But its more the composition of the song that (in my opinion) makes it a bit better than this. this guy is totally right. who in the hell is expecting another rehash of nocturne? not true THA fans, that's for sure. as somebody above said it ever-so-crudely, go suck on aj's balls if you want more. nocturne was a masterpiece, but as THA fans, we must mature along with the music. otherwise, you just become another tool thinking that 'neoclassical' is the way to go.

That song gave me a headache! WTF happened to the human abstract that I oh so loved. The singing/screaming was bearable in Nocturne, but this is just shit, plain and simple

Its official. New The Human Abstract just doesn't have the "feel" anymore. Their new songs are so...plain....and monotonous.
