Yes, I know of him, and I am well aware of his work. Antony Sher is one of many fine actors; and to be quite familiar with those who constitute the very finest of working actors, I can admit into their presence Sir Antony Sher. He is, perhaps, the finest living actor whose work, when so intended, (says one critic), leaves you in breathless suspension [and] wonder.
This was one of the best things I've seen at the Theatre Royal in Bath - Sher was electric, & so was Harriet Walter as Lady Macbeth. The porter appeared first emerging puking from one of the boxes, & told 'knock-knock' jokes to the audience, challenging them to test their ideas about how to watch a tragedy. The change in the atmosphere in the auditorium was palpable, with the audience clearly feeling happier to laugh at puns and sarcasms. It was amazing
Its a shame to know that there are so many good actors like this guy who know one has hear of and don't ever get a break and to see so many horrible actors on the screen like Jimmy Fallon
(of coarse i know that Jimmy has nothing to do with sheakespeare but my point was to compare the unknown talent to a well known crap star)
@Tasteslikeliberty Very talented actors are more preoccupied with honing their craft than with raising their profile. Don't feel sorry for Antony Sher, he may not be well-known to the muggles, but to those in the know he's an absolute gem, and he gets enough work to keep him busy.
fantastic actor, its a shame hes not been in a film or something (the coens could use him!) and this is the best rendition of macbeth I've seen (overtaking patrick stewarts version) up there with ben kingsley's othello and anthony hopkin's titus. and if this was fully realised as a film then he would have definately deserved an oscar! He is so masculine in this film, when I discovered he was actually gay I was astounded as he's such a genius actor he completely erases traces of himself.
I have to memorize this for english by Friday. I cant compete with this..

It's Antony Sher, an RSC actor, well known in England. Read his book 'The Year of the King' about playing Richard III - he's wonderful.
