  • Man made god in his image. Not vive-versa

  • science is something developed to make our lives easier, yet people made it something to cling to.

  • Stupid, Stupid, Stupid...

    Staaaaayuuuupiiid!!!!!

  • i know u r but please dont spam :P

  • God created light and dark on the first day. On the third day he created the sun and other planets,,,,,er am I missing something here. The sun is known for giving us light during the day. So why did not the bible say this !

Oh I am an evolutionist because you seem to believe this as the truth !

  • Yes, God created Light on the first day. And He created the sun, moon and stars on the 4th day. Since God is light (as stated in the Bible), there doesn't only need to be a sun to provide it. So the first light is God's, then on the fourth day it was from the sun.

  • So why don't we see God's light today ! ?The only light we will ever see will be from the sun which he did not creat on the first day. It does not make any sense at all there fore I can only presume that the creation story is false ! Please prove it otherwise !

  • Let me ask you a question. Where did the sun come from? =)

  • You have not proved any thing by asking who made the sun ! Many stars are thousands of light years away from the earth yet according to Creationists they were made 6000 years ago. I believe you have a strawman arguement ! Please prove to me that there is a God and he made the world ! Blind faith is not Prove !

  • You made a blanket statement, you said that the only light we will ever see be from the sun. Isn't that blind faith? Or the fact that you (I presume) believe in evolution, where nothing-for no reason-popped into existence in a spontaneous bang? Is that not blind faith?

  • Straw man arguement when you state the big bang theory. It happen a long time ago and science is still studying that theory as they do not know everything. The Sun is the only thing that give light ! With out the Sun we would be dead within an hour. That is a fact and not blind faith !Now please prove God exists and the earth is 6000 years old !

  • first of all we can still see Gods light today, but it no longer shines the same way it did befor. next the suns light is not the only light we will ever see. a light blub produces light and we see that and its not the sun. Back to Gods light the only way we can see it today is if we chose to see it.

God gave us science to show us his glory and power. Instead we as humans being imperfect have taken science and turned it agains God. I myself try to use science to prove that God is real.

  • @ikinmoore

I do see the Light. It is you who choose not too!

  • -GOD-

The word "God (singular)" is used only n/t English text. The Hebrew word it replaced is ELOHIYM (plural)- more accurately translated: THE DEITIES (Gods)! Some Christians argue, this refers 2/t "Holy Trinity." But the Holy Trinity concept was INVENTED by t/1st Century Church f Rome, 1000s of years after Genesis was written. Ancient Hebrews never heard f/a "Holy Trinity." We arrogantly assume these were very un-enlightened people. You know ... since they don't believe OUR VERSION of things!

  • Einstein quotes:"The word God is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honorable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish.

  • Romans 5:12: When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned

    Romans 5:12 (NLT)

  • Before that sin, we had continuous life, but when we ate of the tree, we were cursed with life to death. We inherited this curse through our forefathers.

  • What bullshit. The "sinner" concept is used to push religion on you. Thus you "need" to be "saved" because you are "bad". It's CULT language. Quit blindly going along like a sheep. This crap is all the lies of men, nothing more.

  • Im sorry buddy, but I dont understand your atheist view. We "Were" under sin, But around 2000Yrs ago, Jesus Christ died for all our sins, So lucky us that we dont live under the condemnation of sin which was death. So now instead of life to death, its life to enternal life.

  • Right, and "finding Jesus" is the only way to acheive that eternal life. So the cult says "you have to follow our ways or else you won't get your reward after death". It's a promise they'll never have to keep, and don't have to prove.

  • This is not a cult, its a shared belief of more then half of the world. Its an offer of internal life through the faith in Jesus Christ. Faith is a belief in a substance of the unseen or can not be proved. I also do not see the relevence in having to prove ones faith. The only proof will be when the lord comes (or not)

  • Religions are cults. Cults do the following:

Prey on people who are weak, drug-addicted, suffering a loss, or too young to know better, and bring them into the fold. Employ messianic figures for the flock to worship. Threaten horrible fate if you try to leave. Use it's members to draw in others.

Now: substitute "religion" for "cult" and it all still fits. There's one glaring difference, however.

    Religions are much bigger.

  • Its a sad view you have, I guess your missing something in your life. How is it that something like the belief in Christ is a bad thing. It Teaches a way of life through love, sound doctrine, and a great set of morals. There are no rituals, requirements and there is no forcing people to conform!, you should rethink your stance/

  • Also in Genesis 5 you will see the chronalogical age of Adam as being 930 years when he died. Adam was made on day 6. If each day is 1.000 years, adam would not have made it to day 7. meaning that he died before he sinned. this would be a biblcial contradiction of Romans 5:12

  • adam sinned at the end of the 7th day....so from the time he sinned, he would die before the end of the time/day he ate of it. If he was also kicked out at that time, then he would also have lived the time he spent in the garden, (he was kicked out in later part of the 1000th yr. Therefore he would have lived for this long. So he died within the Lords day which was 1000yrs

  • let me try again to explain this to you. If Adam was made on day 6, and sin didn't occuar until after day 7, and adam lived to be only 930 years old, then he died before day 7. Which means that adam died before sin, which means that Romans chapter 5:12 is a lie. this blows the long period of time theory out the window.

  • The bible does not lie. So the theroy of long periods of time is not accurate.

  • Of course not, That's why I am trying to confirm to you that adam did die in the day that he ate his fruit. Most people think that his spirit died, but if you read the bible, it says that our body is our soul, so if it dies, then so dose the body. There is no separate spirit in our body.

  • It seems like the only book you've ever read is the bible. I guess that's what has made you so easy to take in.

  • I am only a recent convert, I have read most other scriptures (from Islam, Buddhaism etc) for over 6-7 yrs but non made sense untill I read the Holy Bible. I guess your to young to understand :)

  • I actually rejected the whole notion in grade 5, despite my Catholic teachers trying to ram it into my head. I suggest in addition to reading scriptures, you may want to also read Sam Harris' Letter to a Christian Nation. It might save you from wasting your life devoted to a fairy tale that's designed to give men power over you.

  • I have read that articial, he also wrote the book "end of Faith" and a "letter to islam". He was a former drug user. His views are distorted and he bases his assumptions of Christ from the Catholic Chruch (which teachs and brain washes againts what christ has said) Dont confuse false doctrine of most of the churches to the "truth" of the word of God(jesus and the bible)

  • I wouldn't condemn him for being a former drug user, since a ton of Christians "found" God after being substance abusers. It's a primary source of religious recruits, actually. Ignoring the crap that comes from the churches, much of the Bible is hateful and intolerant, and as tedious as it may be, I'll provide examples if you wish.

  • Well, if Christianity can provide a sorce of moral support for drug users, then its well worth it. The hateful and intolerant texts you will most likely quote in the "old" testament, have no baring on what "Christ" had taught. He brought a new covenant and made the old (being the old testament/laws obsolete. The teachings of Christ provide a foundation for moral standards for All Humans.

  • So are Christ's teachings a "revision" or update to God's word, which supposedly was absolute truth? Did God make mistakes in the OT? Besides, Jesus endorsed the OT anyways:

Matthew 5: 18-19 "I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the law until all is accomplished."

  • Christ said he used the old laws as a "school master" to lead the people to christ and internal life. The bible even says that the lord is not slack concerning his promises. All prophets before christ for told of the coming of christ and what he was to achieve (this also concerns the future happenings). I think you should take time to have a good read of your bible

  • I will right after you read "Dianetics" by L. Ron Hubbard or the Book of Mormon. All of these tomes are equal time wasters. I have read much of the bible, I know the culture well. In fact, more people should read the Bible, because it'll create more unbelievers. It is so loaded with ridiculous tall tales and factual errors it's actually a joke, and any reading will confirm it's authors are a bunch of ignorant goat herders.

  • I've read Dianetics by L. Ron Hubbard, I looked at the guys background and he is a hollywood sci-fi writer and I think he made the whole gig up. I don't worry about the "book of mormon",the bible told to watch out for false teachings/prophets of people first praising jesus, then claiming to have another book from him, Again, I ask you to read the bible, you will see that it is no goat herders fantasy, It was writen by the inspired word of GOD through kings and generals, DO YOUR RESEARCH.

  • Lizelle, you seem to be guilty of the "cherry-picking" that a lot of Christians do. You have said Jesus and the Bible are truth, but to make it palatable to you, you've had to ignore large portions of the intolerance that is throughout the bible. The book isn't divine. It was written by bronze-age goat herders and reflects the morality and ignorance of the day.

  • The book its self has never been regarded as divine, its the message contained within it. It is the inspired word of the lord through the holy spirit, but to understand this, you must first have faith, without it, you can NEVER understand it as your mind is unable to understand things of the unseen.

  • So, I have to believe the book BEFORE I read it in order to believe the book? You're right on that score, only an irrational, uncritical person could read it and believe it, because it's so far-fetched. Being brainwashed by the culture helps too. And tons of Christians I know believe every word of the bible to be 100% true and infallible.

  • No, you have to have a wanting to understand it and a desire to know the Lord and GOD. The bible is Infallible, you just need to understand what It means, its not the most simple book to read, and its not meant to be read from front to back. I do not think you have the comprehension to understand even 1 verse of it. I do hope you will grow out of your blind scepticism soon

  • The Catholic Church has hundreds of millions of devotees, most of them readers of the Bible. You can't separate these things. Churches are the direct result of people being religious. The Bible is so vague that it is easy to distort. Thus, a good person, like yourself will see only the good parts, but bad people, like the ones who would kill all homosexuals, see what they want to see.

  • Firstly, the Catholic Church was not established on the teachings of Christ. Secondly, the bible is only vague to those who have no faith, (all this is mentioned in the bible, I really think you should have a good hard read, because at the moment, you seem to be very confused.

  • The Bible has 2 parts, the Old Testament and the New Testament. Do you believe in the teachings of the Old Testament? Yes or no?

  • The new testament said that the laws of the old testament were for the people of that time, and christ brought in new laws and made the former (or old testament laws) obsolete (old; no longer in use, invalid). So being a true christian, we are not suppose to follow the "old laws", but I do believe in all the stories mentioned in the bible, old and new.

  • Wow, what an admission. The old laws went "obsolete". This implies many things: they weren't written by some divine being who could predict the future. They weren't "universal" or "ever-lasting" truths, but had to change to suit the times. On some level, they needed "fixing" or were "imperfect". So NOW, though, you say, THIS TIME they are perfect. Sorta blows the whole "God is infallible" thing outta the water.

  • As I have said before, God used the Old laws as the "school master" to bring us to christ. What dose a school master do, he provides us with "lessons" and "examples". He used the old laws as an example of how those specific types do not provide an option for eternal life. As I have said before, you should take time and read what you want to criticize first, as you give unintelligent assumptions.

  • What I'm actually criticizing are YOUR OWN WORDS. You said that an infallible god created laws that went obsolete. I don't need to read the bible, Qu'ran, Harry Potter, or any other book to show your position as contradictory and indefensible. Far from an "unintelligent" debate, I've actually got you chasing your tail.

  • Your reply of "he's using the old laws as lessons" is a lame attempt to bridge an unbridgable gap. So if you want to condescend to me an call my arguments "unintelligent" you're in for a tough ride, because my mind is not fettered to a clumsy and outdated book like yours.

  • When you start attacking me personally, it shows that your getting frustrated and confused. The bible actually says that he used the old as a lesson and that they are not obsolete. I can give you the book name and chapter number if you want to search for you self.

  • Just because a book is newer, it dose not make it more correct, infact, I think its more easy to become confused today that it has ever been in the whole human history, and there are MANY more lies told today. You should do more research before you try to tell me whats right and whats not.

  • It makes no sense for you to attack a belief or book if you have never actually read it or know any "factual" info. The bible says that men can not understand the workings/mind of God. The bible is not contradictory, If you actually read it, you will find this out. Tell me a part u do not understand, im more than happy to teach you.

  • Sorry, Lizzy. I stopped believing at age 11 and since that time I've seen loved ones come and go and even faced my own death and none of it convinced me of some "higher" power. You could no more talk me into believing in a mythical god than I could get you to re-believe in Santa. Thanks for the debate, tho.

  • Those who believe in the Word of GOD are told its not our Job to convert and force the belief into people, but to plant the seed and hope it lands on good ground so that it may prosper and not stony ground (like your heart at the moment). As I said before, its faith and hope. It betters the heart and gives hope for an enternal life after. I hope you do not believe in santa lol. Thank you also.

  • lizellethegazelle: And what devine credentials do you have to claim the ability to understand and interpret the bible correctly ?Within the christian world, there are thousands of different interpretations for every bible verse.

  • I do not presume to interpret the bible. 2peter 1:20 clearly states that the bible is not for ones Private(self gaining as dose many cult people) interpretation.

What I have said is written, and I am not one to bend the truth for my own gain. we all have the "divine credentials" to understand the bible. its a matter of faith and belief.

  • Lizellthegazelle:"we all have the "divine credentials" to understand the bible".

So Einsteins` interpretation is right ? "Pretty childish primitive legends"

    THANK YOU..

  • lol, That's Einstein's interpretation. He viewed and studied the material side of the world, the bible is able the invisible, i.e faith.

Einstein was a very interesting and great man. But it dose not make his word law in regards to religions. The bible says that "satan will deceive even the most intelligent of people in matters they consider them selves authorities.

  • lizell: Luckily there is NO satan.

Hi Satan, it`s me, I have a soul for sale. 1.000.000 $. I will donate the money to charity. Come on Satan DEAL OR NO DEAL ?

  • If you are going to start a debate, then please keep it as an intelligent one. I would prefer if you would actually do some research in regards to theology before you throw wild assumptions around like a rabid animal.

  • Lizell: Same advice for you my dear. Would you point out my " wild assumptions" Please .Your whole belief-system is a wild assumption, because you believe without evidence. That`s the definition of assumption isn`t it ? See Einstein`s quote .

  • an assumption is An axiom or statement, not necessarily true but put forward and taken to be true to enable further analysis of a hypothesis. The bible is based of a written account of people thousands of years ago, that can be conformed by the ruling states of the time being the Romans, and Jewish historians. Einstin's quotes are mealy his OWN reflections

and thoughts of the world (A quite bland and sad world in his case). The bible through investigation, can be empirically proven in history

  • Lizelle: Too bad that in 2.000 years the bible still hasn`t been proven trustworthy.

The only evidence from independent historians for the whole salvation story, is a mere couple of sentences.

    Enjoy your fantasy. Peace !!

  • lol,

I hope I was able to teach you a little something about research and was able to put you onto the path of truth. I hope one day you will be able to look back and be happy you decided to further research the bible with "open minded skepticism" (rather than the ignorant closed minded approach many take.

    Good luck!

  • Lizel, "rather than the ignorant closed minded approach many take" okay, here's the thing "I" don't get about you bible heads...i think preaching and/or living by the bible is one of the most closed minded things one can do..i'm sure somewhere in that book it says to live out your life with only good intentions, with love and care for all things existent...and that's me, i live to learn while loving, but you're saying..wait what? what's going to happen if i don't live by this book?

  • Its what the "book/bible" or the Lord offers us after death that gets the "bible bashes" happy and excited. It provides people with a sense of safety and happiness after death.

Preaching should be an expression of joy for people because they have "discovered" something they believe is special and wish to share it with the world.

  • LOL, that's exactly what i was going to prove....comfort for the fear of unknown after death....but isn't it pretty silly to believe this (quite amazing journey of a story i might add) right down to the "T"? I mean look around, look above, the night sky for instance....explain to me what that is, and admit that you really have no idea....NOW that is something i can preach about, the beauty of this unexplainable existence...simple! NO ONE knows what happens when we die.

  • Well, I think that what the lord (as stated in the bible) offers is the comfort for those that have faith in something special and happy after they die...thus eliminating the fear of death. Its the faith they they know where they are going.

When I look around (at the sky, sea nature etc), What I see is wonderful creations that bring pleasure to my heart, each with their own unique purpose in life. created by the lord perfect. By faith in the lord, I feel comfort about not worrying once i die.

  • yes but it really says alot for oneself. how weak one can be to take shelter in...well in this case, a creation story with profits all built in mans image. one who cannot think for himself, and question. i believe is about as useless as an asshole on my elbow. i mean i'm not hating on you and your beliefs, don't get me wrong, just trying to open up that muscle inside your cranium abit. compare being devout to taking the same route on foot everyday for the rest of your life to the store. no fun

  • Why is believing in something higher a weakness. I think it requires strength and commitment (something very hard to do) to put your faith in something you can see. But putting our faith in a higher power, we gain a sense of saftey and psychologically it removes stress (which is one of the leading causes of disease). I do believe man can think for them self...but we seem to have a hard time getting things right, we love violence, sexual deviance, theift etc. Have you really read a bible?

  • my typing is not to good so let me repeat this. if there were 3,000 years between say bees, and the plants that they pollenate. These plants would not be able to reproduce, and they would have died out. And we would not see them today. but this is not the case.

this proves that each day was in fact a literal 24 hour period.

  • that dose not prove anything, you only observe how nature is today. Tell me what the function of birds are. Do they not eat fruit and defecate, thus providing a suitable casing for a seed to begin its germination? Also Death was not cursed upon all living flesh (animals trees etc) till the 7th day, so they could not have died till then.

  • Are you saying that in the history past bees did not pollenate plants? If so I suggest you take some biology courses. If you take bees out of the picture the plants that depend on them for pollenation would perish. barring of course man artificaly pollentating them.

  • Of course bees pollinate plants, im not denying that. All I am trying to establish to you is that before adam and eve at of the forbidden tree, there was continuous life for man and all under him (hence everything on the earth) But after he ate, every thing had the curse of life to death.

  • interesting point, however in Exodus chapter 20:verses 8-11 moses establishes the fact that the earth was made in 6 days, and the 7th day we shall rest, this is the model for the 6 day work week. Did moses lie?

  • Yes, Its good you brough this point up, If you do your time lines, you will find that it has been about 6000yrs since we were kicked out of the garden, and the 7000th yr is approaching soon. This is why I also afferm that Creation was in 6000Yrs,

  • Also if each day in Genesis were equal to 1,000 years as you claim. If the plants were made on day 3. the creeping things were on day 6 this would include insects that pollenate plants, there would 3,000 years between this time. So the plants would have died out, and we would have them today.

  • is a correct representation of how long it took for the universe to be created. The Lord dose not work on our time, hence why he told moses he had to take them back to his time.

  • Also, you must understand that the original texts were written backwards (hebrew)and were not not to be read in the order we have them today. Why do you think Jesus was able to confound the pharasies when he was only 12. This is because he was able to show them the true meaning behind the inspired word of God. therefore, chapter 3 verse 8: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

  • I relize the hebrew is read from right to left and not left to right like english. however this has nothing to do with this conversation what so ever.

  • Im trying to give you an idea of how the bible aught to be read and understood. Its not as simple as reading it from a to b. This is in reference of using something in the new testament to explain something in the old testament.

  • according to 2ndpeter chapter 3 verse 8: But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

so the earth was not created in 6 days but 6 thousand years.

  • Genesis 1 says day. The Hebrew word for "day" in the story of creation is YOM. Which literally means 24 hours...So God created the world in 6, 24 hour periods.

  • lizellethgazell, lets not talk hebrew but english. when is morning and evening ever used in the english language to represent long periods of time. Answer it's not. 2nd peter refers to the fact that God is not limited by our concept of time.

  • No, The stars, moon and the sun were created on the 4th day, so before there was no concept of time in regards to our 24hr cycle. If you do your cross-referencing, you will find that the universe was created in two sets of 3 days.

  • Don't try to interpret what is being said, the bible is not for personal interpretation. It says that The Lords day is 1000 yrs were as our day is only 24hrs. It is as it sounds.
