he thing that gets me is that EVERYONE is obessed with football, basketball, baseball and blah blah blah. no one gives about swimming (maybe around your area) but at my school, swimming doesnt get credit yet its so much harder than any sport. now since the olympics come, everyone is just IN LOVE with him and from the start, they didnt even pay attention to swimming ever! they hate swimming, they hate watching it yet they love michael phelps. i hate them for that!

He's not the greatest Olympian of all time. He has the most gold medals, but most sports writers would place athletes like Carl Lewis and Paavo Nurmi ahead of him in the 'greatest Olympian' list. Swimming is a lot less demanding on your body than athletics, hence he is able to compete in eight different events. Look at athletics greats like Michael Johnson, they could only compete in about 3 events max because of the demand on their body. I personally think Carl Lewis is the greatest Olympian.
