Excellent video, my friend. It was great seeing you again and shooting some sweet photos here in the states. Looking forward to working with you again.
Skifhania- martial arts training is all about "what ifs". The training regardless of what style it is, is to provide you with potential answers to potential problems, givng you tools in which to use to fix the situation. How you use the tools you have is up to you. But in order to use the tools you must practice using them to become skilled with them. Using them against different types of attacks, speed, timing, and body types. These are simply ideas using Hapkido principals
We don't grapple against a knife. This is a part of training that includes knife defence. This is introduced at Provisional Black Belt, the level just before Black Belt.
skifhania - Nobody is born with the skills to resist an attacker. Saying you're being given a 'fake' attack doesn't apply as it is designed to build strength, confidence and muscle memory. It's a style of concepts - You learn the basics, but it's not as rigid as it appears. The techniques can be applied from just about anywhere.
It's a very good DVD series, Highly recommend it to anyone who can get their hands on it!
things are very easy when the opponent is giving you a fake attack (punch os kick).. but what happend when the attacker comes like crazy??? then these things just don' work.. this is my opinion though...
@skifhania if your opponent just charges you, a simple front kick might just work. There is a counter move to every attack. As Dezhem wrote "Its a style of consepts" This is very true. Asking questions in this style is encouraged.
wow !!
