@aapinator It's the front brake hydraulic fluid container. The rear brake has a separate container on the lower right. Some guys will cover the container with a decorative sock, some bikes have a metal container with a sight glass.

@bratcher71 Well that may be true in some cases but i rode a 600 gsx-r and it was horrible compared to my xs1100. it just felt very unstable. like if i ran over a tooth pick i would get thrown. the bigger bikes never gave me that feeling. always felt very solid to me. plus i love the ridiculous amount of acceleration the 1100 has. it is what i like most. around here in VA its either congested city roads or wide open highway. the need for cornering just isn't there.
