Take these chords and play it against the live version he plays on the Bill Maher show, it's the same exact thing. The record version is different, and honestly isn't as good as his acoustic version.

you're actually playing in C Major, not G major with those chords... this song in G Maj would be Cmaj, Gmaj, Dmaj, Dmaj. Its a 4 1 5 5 progression. Remember - in Gmaj you dont have a natural F major chord - you get the F#Dim chord in its place...

Not in this version, the pattern remains throughout the duration of the acoustic version. For the album version that may be the case...
