  • wow nutz, im having that surgery in a couple months finaly but wow, kinda seems from the videos your lips get fatter after and i already have fat lips which is bad. did you notice a big difference?

    Looks great.

And is a chin augumentation the same as a genioplasty??? or whats the difference??? did u have chin surgery? pls can u reply asap as im researching before my clinic consultation this monday in one days time!!!

  • oh wow you look hot

  • Dang Joe, you're FINE!!!!

  • how much did it cost?

  • Amazing

  • Thank you so much for posting this video. My surgery is less than a month away, and this video really helped me realize I am doing this for the right reasons. You look great! I know the pain and suffering will be worth it in the end. =]

  • Did you have to pay for the braces??

  • @KimchiEater1234 I had to do the braces through an orthodontic clinic so yeah, I did have to pay for them. The surgery was free though and the hospital stay.

  • Hello! I'm having this surgery tomorrow...eek!

After that, I have about a month before I start school, do you think that will be long enough for me to look somewhat normal?

and I also work as waitress, how long do you think it will be before I can go back to work?

Thanks so much for your time!

The results of your surgery are amazing!

  • @poprocks3388 Yeah, you will probably still have some swelling but it won't be too bad a month after surgery

  • Good for you - I had upper and lower done 2 months ago and am pretty pleased with the results. Numbness sucks though...

  • congrats bro.

  • So the only thing thats attaching your jaws to your head are skrews and knobs? Or does the jaws heal into the skulll and everything becomes one piece again?

  • @KimchiEater1234 The jaw heals back into the skull but the metal stays there. They don't remove it.

  • how long did it take you to heal completely?? please reply

  • It took a couple of months before I started to feel more normal and a year for a full recovery.

  • well done mate.

I have to make mine ASAP.

  • Wow hun you look amazinf just had surgery how long does it take for the swelling to go down? x

  • You look very nice!!! Did it hurt so much?? I'm from Brasil and I'm doing the same surgery in January 2010, actually, I have a very similar problem...so now I can see that's worth...

  • Wow this looks great. Not that you didn't before. But congratulations, great song for the video.

  • OMGOSH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! U look amazing :) :) :) Congratulations xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

i'm having an operation done sooon because my jaw moves to the side whihc is why I hate having photos taken because of the way it is. Once more, this rele rele rele helped. Well donexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • whats the song?

  • Dare you to move by Switchfoot

  • Great video. Congratulations...

  • wow.

  • great videos. thanks for sharing with everyone. my daughters surgery is scheduled for 3/10 at shriners in chicago. this video has given us the opportunity to see what she will "look" like after surgery. brought tears to my eyes. thanks

  • Good for you! You look great man, like it never happened. Congrats!

  • this is amazing

  • You have a killer smile now:) imade my heart skip a beat:)

  • definitely some kind of deformity you were born with

i can tell by the way you walk its some kind of bone problem i guess. not being offensive

  • bit rude aren't you....

  • tell me about it. i have had an over shot jaw all my life n I'm finally getting surgery etc. it's such a relief. some people are so rude......have you seen some of these comments. give the guy a break!

  • U put on some weight during the process.

  • looks much better, now all you need is to grow your hair out a little and style it, then you would be perfect :)

  • PS to you jerks that know nothing about the surgery. Try sticking your jaw out, and eating a sandwich, or burger. Impossible. I always make a mess so I have to eat with a fork ONLY or I tear my finger foods into bite size pieces. It's embarassing not being able to just eat normally. Not to mention it can affect your speach, can cause headaches, and jaw joint pain and your teeth to wear unevenly. It's not about cosmetic, it's about being normal. Not to mention smiling unabashedly!

  • agreed, im a little over one week post op and my life has been a living hell. i was lucky to have little swelling (it's almost all gone now) but you feel awful. people say my jaw wasnt that bad and that surgery seems rediculous but they have no clue what fellow patients go through.

  • haha i have same problem as this guy... only much worse but im used to chewing food and i dont let the insults get to me :)

  • You were a cutie before and now youre even better! I dont know about you but I've always been afraid to smile. Watching you smile made me extra excited about my surgery so that I can finally smile and not be ashamed or worry about people starring! Thanks for the video!

  • i SO understand... some people are just mean so i dont give a fuck and just smile!

  • I had my surgery a week ago. They had to do the top and bottom. I am soo happy with the results I cant wait for the rest of the swelling to go away though. Depending on how bad your problem is it may be covered by your medical insurance.

  • is this surgery type expensive? I have the same problem, and i really like to do it.

    damn...i hate my face

  • Haha, this video makes me smile..I'm having my surgery july 20!! and I'm watching all these vids..it makes me more confident. :))

don't listen to all these ppl saying u looked better b4..I bet you feel WAY better w/o out the headaches caused by the under bite + the discomfort..I know how it is. :) take caree.

  • seriously the dentists in the uk are totally fucking crap hence "brit teeth" you guys are really lucky to havesuch proffesionals working on your teeth..

  • hey if ur happy the way u look ignore other fools that try to say undispute things same goes for everyone out there.

  • By the way, awesome vid, you have wicked skills in movie making. *big thumbs up* and your results are fantastic!

  • WTF hee looked better before.

  • Awesome!

  • wow, what a result!

  • You are a very handsome young man. The Doc's did an excellent job. God bless

  • Is there a way to fix a underbite with out serious surgery or anyting that casuse serious things? like im not that much of underbite but i am... and i was wondering if i can stop it by putting force to it by pushing my my chin with my hand in lay dow postion will tat work? cuz it feels like its got alot in

  • braces from a dentist.. or surgery would fix it.

You can't fix it just by pressing on it with your hand.

  • hey man, great results. Did you notice much of a change to your nose after the upper was advanced?

  • For the people saying that there's no difference, there is. Some people, who have never had these issues, think its like shallow or something. Its easy for them to say, because they're not the one's having their physical appearance compared to that of a cavemen. The human race is a shallow species, and ignoring that fact doesn't make it go away.

  • TheClassicalLiberal speaks truth beyond the words he or she has spoken. For just one moment imagine being singled out from several people for something which you have no control over and have them bully you, telling you, "Woah, look who jumped out of World of Warcraft! Must be the result of cross-breeding.." For those who know of the videogame, and play it, you'll know exactly what I mean; implying that one is a crossbreed of a human and orc. That is not my story, but I am one of those many...

  • Hey. This is a really good video. I am getting Upper, and lower jaw surgery. And am getting my chin moved forward. I am gettin gnervous as the surgery date nears. But your video reassures me that it will turn out well. =)

  • i can tell that sucks you didnt ask for somthing like that you were just brought into the world with it all you stuck up ass holes dont give a shit cuz yall are fucks but i know how that shit must feel. yall should go get fucked in the ass thats what your best at.

  • That was an oscar-winning performance.

  • cool you are h o t hot

  • your so cute especially when you smile.

  • hey this is cool :D your jaw was not moving forward that much my jaw is way worse. and i will fix it soon. i wonder is this possible that i can get straight to the surgery without wearing braces because i cant wait :( i think my teeth are pretty neat

  • No, you can't. You NEED braces for the surgery and recovery. The surgery is done 1/3 into the brace threatment.

  • YEAAAAAAAAH!

  • I don't see any substantial difference

  • @andrew881thebest

u can clearly see a substantial diff! piss off with ur negative comment

  • nice and im happy for ya :)

  • i'm happy for ya man :)

  • you look awsome now dude, i just got back from my surgery.. looking 300 pounds heavyer due to swelling but i hope it all turns out when its gone!

  • U LOOK GREAT NOW..

  • Congrats on the surgery, I'm getting something similar in a week. Cool video, but you walk like a cromag lol.

  • Whats a cromag?

  • A early human lol..

  • wow this is amazing!

im hopefully getting my jaw surgery this winter to fix my underbite as well.

    you are very inspiring.

  • lol he's still a spack

  • haha you're so goofy looking your original face and body make me believe in evolution. But your jaw does look 100% better

  • Awesome! This is really inspiring!

  • that's great!

  • your a hotty

  • Why not just be happy with yourself as millions of years of evolution have dictated? I have an underbite where my teeth only fit together properly this way. It allows me to more effeciently chew, and my teeth "lock" together to be nearly equivelant to a mouthguard... will you see me on TV advertising toothpaste, no... but I don't let that keep me from smiling :). You looked fine before, you look fine now... We are all quite beautiful as we are :)

  • youre stupid like fuck.... theres discomfort like headaches, jaw aches, chewing, and theres more mucus blocking in your nose. health reasons are involved. omg...

  • o yeah bet your getin all the girls now

  • People i got the surgery done. and i ll tell you there is Zero pain involved. the only thing you ll have to suffer through i the discomfort. Thats all. But really no pain. I had the surgery 2 years ago, and sadly that was only part1, part2 is in 3 weeks. haha. So have fun and start a new life looking hotter.

  • I just had this surgery about 10 days ago and I will second the fact that there is ZERO pain. The only thing that bugs me right now is the non-chew diet... i.e. liquids/soups.

I still have another 5 weeks till I can eat solids. I can't wait to see the final result. I am very glad I had this surgery done. I can finally smile and feel good about myself :)

  • hahaha. awesome. yahh the non-chew diet is a piss off for sure. I craved hard food soooo much after my first surgery. But lucky I was able to eat solids within 2 weeks only. I am getting a second jaw surgery in 19 days. I think i got addicted to jaw surgeries haha. I post a video at some point. Make sure you do too.

  • i agree, i had mine 9 days ago, and there is no pain involved, just alot of discomfort, and yeah the hardest part isn't the surgery at all, the worst part is craving for a burger afterwards :]

  • I'm sure the craving can be cured by imagining it liquified though :)

  • er like 'killer smile' hmmmmmmmm very hot! like filthy gorgeous!

  • whats the title of the song?

  • dare you to move

  • thanks!

  • hello joe!! im from chile and i want to know how much time did you have to wear bruckets after the surgery?

  • This video encourages me a lot! I really hate my underbite, and I'm wearing braces. I may have a surgery in 6 months or so, and I hope that I can have a satisfactory result like yours. You know, this means a lot to me, and your smile in the last minutes of the video also tells me a lot. That is not just a surgery, that is starting a new life. Wish you all the best! Thanks for the video. I hope I can smile like you soon.

  • Hey Joe can you tell me how long did you wear the braces before the surgery? What are the risks of the surgery?

  • I've had my braces on for nearly 2 years in april and i've got about 6-9 months till my op. I gotta have both top and bottom re-set.

  • You will have to wear braces for 2 and half years???Why?

  • WOW!!! Nice smile! Girls would like you alot with that smile!

  • heya joe i just wanna say you look fantastic!

i've watched all your videos and i gotta admit it's an amazing transformation : )

i've gotta long time to wait which is like 2 years lol! i just can't wait 2 have it. your videos are gr8 and am glad that people have started to put these videos on here

congrats on your surgery : )

  • Joe, you look great! Do you have facial numbness? Heard it can be a lifetime side-effect. Got to have mine jaw fixed too. Kinda scared :P

  • Wow Colgate's smile

  • Killer Smile now!

    Kool mUsic...

  • i thought there wasn't much pain cus you are numb anyway. i haven't had it done yet 2 years to wait : (

  • Helooked really happy before the surgery and after he looks pissed off royal (in the picture)

  • whoa!i cant believe it cost that much!i live in ireland and my braces cost 4,000 euros, surgery(which im having n april)1,000 and i had to get my wisdom teeth out - 750. I know it would be more in dollars...but still...did you have to stay over night in the hospital?I was told this is a one hour procedure and i can go home when its done.

  • Ok people.. for everyone who is wondering about the costs associated with the orthognathic surgery let me break down the maximum possible costs associated w/ the surgery.

    Braces: $6,000 max.

    Surgeon's Bill: $5,500 per jaw

    Hospital Bill: $30,000

  • have a nice smile.. priceless ;):D

  • how much money did you pay totally after all? thank you.

  • very moving and inspirational. you look great! do you have any permanent numbness? i'm getting my surgery this summer and im a little nervous! i hope my results are as good as yours!

  • wow es una operacion algo puff pero bueno a la final vale la pena!!!!

    cuanto duro tu operacion?

  • Comment removed

  • wow thats sucks how old are you?maybe consider running away for a while.alot of people do it and if your good you can earn a living

  • Came out great buddy. My girlfriend is thinking about getting the surgery too. The video helped, so thanks. By the way, whats the name of that song? Its a great song.

  • damm thanks for that!! Im still in my second week of recovery!!

  • who's you doctor?

  • very cute!

  • Hello Joe, My name is José, from Guadalajara, México, I pased through a similar surgery, (Lefort I). I´m very pleasured with the results. I went back to work 4 weeks later and some friends could´t recognize me. Congratulations.

  • LOOKED BETTER!

  • the average cost of this surgery without insurance is 16k and most insurances feel that this is a cosmetic procedure it is very hard to get them to approve it and the healing process takes about 6 months with alot of weight loss and strugle

  • my surgeon estimated about $60K for lower jaw surgery. are you sure $16K?? That seems kinda low. Including hospital ER, upper and lower jaw surgery would total about $90K from my surgeon. Either I'm getting ripped off, or there's a price discrepancy.

  • my quote was for 10k, probably a little higher now, 60k?

    that's a rip off

  • Im getting mine done for free

  • bro.awesome.ive heard its painful.great outcome tho.i wish you the best of luck man. =)

  • Congrats dude!!Hey Joe my name is Jamal Boykin and I'm a basketball player at UC Berkeley. I have a serious underbite and I want to get this surgery after my season, do you think it will have an effect on my ability to compete in athletics after the first five months?

  • very inspirational, thank you

  • in this video we can notice something important: only who has this problem knows how is the feeling to smile doesnt matter where the camera is...

i have the jaw problem and im still trying to find a way to have power to do this surgery... thanks for the video, it helps me a lot in my decision.

  • how much did it cost?? please let me know.

  • OMG!!! you look SO HOT now!!! i think you are very handsome babe! ;)

  • how much did it cost please comment me and tell me/message me

  • I had upper and lower jaw surgery and am still healing from it. I feel your pain, buddy! You look great!

  • Hahahahahaha, you looked like John Travolta towards the end.

I'm having my double jaw surgery done in one month.(2nd of Oct)

You look AWESOME. I think you look absolutely wonderful, and it's well worth it. *fingers crossed* It was strange, but my surgeon said I can go back to contact sports after just 3 months.

Well I'm 16 and seeing as I'm a girl, I've basically stopped growing. Hope my smile can one day look as excellent as yours.

Peace be with you and have a great life.

  • Great Video! I'm having the same thing done, except to my top jaw.

  • thats awsome man, im sure thats the best feeling to get that over with, i have to get the same thing, but i have to wait till im done growing. was it the same for you? how old were you when you had the surgery?

  • I just did the same surgery :) how long did it take you before your face's swelling went down significantly and looked slim again?

  • fucken awesome dude...congrats!

  • Hi. I just did an upper n lower jaw surgery. it has been 7 days and it's still very painful especially in the night. I can't bear with the pain. BTW, the chipmunk swelling would reside and would we be able to regain our face shape again? I mean does this surgery change the face shape? How do u deal with the pain? are there anything we can do to reduce the pain? Thanks for your time to answer my doubts :)

  • Hey, I just wanted to thank you for these videos. They actually prepared both my family and myself for the surgery, which I have in 18 days. I'm going to shriners for my surgery && have all the same doctors as you did. I'm scared and very nervous, but your video helped calm the nerves a little. Your results turned out amazing && I hope mine turn out just the same!!

  • It has like only just hit me that im gonna go through that! Im having both my top and bottom jaws sorting out as i have an open bite. So yeah watching ur videos have really helped me to know whats gonna be happening very soon. Cheers.

  • great outcome! my jaw is wired shut right now from being kicked in the face by a horse.

  • is upper jaw surgery mandatory?

  • Not in all cases, but they said later on after the surgery. I would have looked goofy if they did not move the top.

  • Hey Joe, enjoyed your videos. What an undertaking and an inspiration for all. :) barb mcintosh

  • Good job, not only i need a Jaw surgery, but also a rhinoplasty because i can't breath well :S

  • I had this surgery done 17 months ago and it didnt hurt.

  • I'm having my surgery this summer and i was wondering how long does it take for the swelling to fully recover and was it painful DURING the surgery. I know this is a stupid question but was the needle that they injected in you to make you fall asleep very effective?

  • I would say 3 to 4 months for all the swelling to go down if you get top and bottom jaw done.Yes I fell asleep very quickly and I don't remeber anything until a couple hours after the sugery was done.

  • how old were u when u had the surgery done?

  • I was 18 years old.

  • Awh wow you have a nice smile, i want to have this surgery done as i have an underbite, and it hurts when i eat and makes me feel self concious, im just worried about the pain lol, but im sure its worth it.

  • Dont worry about the pain cause it might not hurt because before i had the surgery done i was scared that it would hurt alot and it didnt even hurt.

  • how old were u when had the surgery done?

i need to know because i am going to get jaw surgery soon.

  • how long did it take for your jaw to heal fully?

  • Thanks for the videos. I will have to get the jaw surgery in the near future (after my mouth is healed from the wisdom teeth extraction and after I get braces). My lower jaw also sticks out, too. Hopefully, it's not a double jaw surgery.

  • Hello Joe,

I´am looking for do this surgery but I am very shocked with those proceduries.

How bad does it HURT? Do you first wake up with pain? what can you compare the pain with.

    Thanks

  • It hurts and I was really disorriented when I woke up. I can't compare the pain with anything I have ever had happen to me. But trust me, after you are healed up, everything you go through will be worth it, by the final result. Just make sure to keep your head up and focus on the end of the tunnel and you will recover more quickly.

  • Did you know what you would look like before the surgery and is your self esteem better?

  • No, I didn't and my self esteem has sky rocketed.

  • Just wondering...how long after surgery before you could resume weight training/strenuous exercise? Thanks

  • I waited about three months until resuming strenuous excercise, but I got double jaw surgery. If you only get upper or lower jaw surgery I would say a month to a month and a half.

  • Wow...you look fantastic

  • I wanted you to know I am posting your video on facebook, myspace and a blog. Why? I am doing my final senior project at the University of Missouri, and my client is Shriners Hospitals-Chicago.

Do you think you could check out our blog and other groups? (See below) We would be grateful if you could post a little about your experience on the sites. It would really show everyone how important our cause is! Thanks!

    -Mary Pat

  • Whoa Joe you look way different!! Thats cool you were able to get that surgery!! Looking good there Joe!!

  • hey joe, i'm glad u were able to get through it. I am thinking about going through the process as well. But some people have said that insurance doesn't cover the procedure. Did it for you? How much was the cost of the entire thing?

  • I did this procedure through Shriners Hospital which was absolutely free, from plane tickets to the surgery all free. You have to be younger than 18 years of age to appl for it though.

  • Wow that's amazing that you got it done for free!!! You look amazing!

  • when your doctor makes the first claim it'll probably be denied because they see this surgery as only cosmetic. your doctor and yourself may have to make several appeals to explain the medical necessity. it might take some phone calls and letter writings, but they should provide coverage. my claim was first denied, but they are now going to cover it.

  • Kaiser Permanente covers it most of the time. I heard Blue Cross will cover it but you really have to beg and plead/work the system.
