  • Thankyou sooo much, I've been wanting to learn this for so long. And you've come out to give these lessons for free. you are an amazing teacher. :D

  • go master chung

  • --> MY QUESTION FOR Master Wong is: How "back friendly" Wing Chun is?

What kind of exercises / techniques (also physical) would you suggest (videos, stretching etc included ofc) for training specifically for CORE strength, lower back flexibility, so I can train harder and get my back stronger? Back has always been my weak place but I've gotten strength from upper back but could use tips so I won't hurt it again. I'm going back to MA at some point, tho docs said no. what do they know anyways :D

  • I've always wanted to learn Wing Chun. Problem is that I've had a spine injury that I took from a bad ukemi in Aikido that took about over two years to get better. I got LOTS of material on Wing Chun but no training partner and there's no Dojo in this town.

I know that for most martial arts are physical and u need a strong core/back. The docs said I'm done, but I disagree. Disc prolapse still pressing the sciatic nerve a bit, some days it gives a reminder I can feel on my left leg. CONTINUED ->

  • master wong please make a video about jeet kune do

  • master wong do you know how to do jeet kune do please make a video about jeet kune do tnk you master wong

  • fowud XD love his vids though

  • @MajinAbu fowud fowud fowud XD

  • Master Wong do you pivot on the support leg turning the hip over with the side kick? Or is that something to do on a actual target ..i.e..a pad, heavy bags etc? I was wondering because it looks similar to a side blade kick from Shaolin Kempo which is like a boxers jab.

  • Perfect lesson about kicking in Wing Chun stance.

Jeet Kune Do isn't a style, it is a concept.

The techniques will change like the time changes...

  • @Fightking77

YESS! FIght king Jeet Kune do IS a concept! You can use it in any MARTIAL ART!!

  • The funny thing about Bruce Lee is that many saw his art Jeet Kune Do as revolutionary when it came out. But the trout is that Bruce Lee took most of the things from Wing Chun: The one inch punch, the intercept theory, the basic principles of directness, simplicity and economical movement, the stop kick theory, mostly of the basic punches and kicks came from Wing Chun and also some of the self defence technique came from Wing Chun.

  • A big difference though is how the Jeet Kune Do stance is sideways, whereas the Wing Chun stance is always forward. If you use a sideways stance then 70% of all Wing Chun techniques and essences are pretty much lost..

  • JKD isnt wing chun. Bruce lee used the most effective moves from all martial arts and blended them. Watch lee sparr on youtube. Hes untouchable

  • Did I ever say that Jeet Kune Do was Wing Chun? Bruce Lee was definitely NOT untouchable. And he did not use the most effective moves, he just used some that suited his taste.

what the hell are the most effective moves anyway, is there a list?

  • i guess the sideway thing was to make the distance fighting a bit better cuz wing chun is pretty much only about moving closer to the opponent

  • so true

  • The core concepts of Jeet Kune Do are derived from Wing Chun. Jeet Kune Do is currently seen as the genesis of the modern state of hybrid martial arts. And everyone knows that Bruce Lee founded JKD, and that 60% of that martial art is from Wing Chun.

    And excellent lessons Wong sifu.

  • Bruce Lee is clearly the grand father of Mixed Martial Arts. It is such a shame that he had to pass at such a young age. I presonally believe Mixed Martial Arts would be more then what it is now if he was still alive.

  • it was his time it was the death that made us stronger

  • @Dancetovic Bruce Lee started out with Wing Chun. So did Jackie Chan, I believe. I like this way more than the Karate I currently practice. No disrespect, I just find it more suitable for someone like me.

  • @Dancetovic not everyone knows that Bruce took away the essence of the art. Wing Chun is a shaolin style, once a secret, but now, ip Man himself says. If a man practice wing chun to fight, then the form dies, FIGHTS RESOLVE NOTHING...but if a man practice to promote health then Wing Chun lives! get it? so all this talk about this and that means nothing, because it is not even the real deal of what wing chun is supposed to be.. and that is.. exercise.. ONLY...

  • Master Wong, youre amazing

  • thank u :)

  • wat about wing chun exercises like muscle conditioning is it all about just memorising movents ,i mean i know about strengthening the legs but what about the upper body the arms the abs and so on

  • Just typical exercise.

I'd take a look at Bruce Lee : The Art of Expressing the Human Body

  • Hey! Wing Tsun doesn't particularly specify bodybuilding as a necessary. Of course you need to strenghen the legs by following the way Wong showed us by bending the knees and so forth. Otherwise Wing Tsun is about using the attackers attacks against him, so unless you are a SKINNY STICK, then I do not see any need for upper bodybuilding.

  • now thats wat i call an answer thanx

  • hi master wong you have great videos, i was wondering if wing chun can beat wrestlers ( grabs and on floor ) well not beat wrestlers but stop grabs etc? thanks.

  • just avoid being grab...

  • Thank you Master Wong . I was better fighter.

  • lol at all the people saying you can't learn martial arts without a teacher, most of the arts were originally invented self-taught with little training or equipment

  • thanks master

  • not every si-fu or si-hing teaches the same.

  • this still is really good,

however i don't agree with teaching wing chun like this, i mean anyone could learn this without correction in person instruction.

also we are on lesson 7 and he hasn't yet started the siu nim tao , or talked about a straigh punch or centreline theroy yet... maybe he will.

    However he is very talented.

  • i agree. I think anybody that feels they will learn a martial art by watching a video is fooling themselves. However, there are good ideas as far as training routines and methods that are beneficial to students and teachers.

As an instructor I always like to find new ideas and watching how other instructors teach can be a useful tool.

  • Right, we cant learn 100% correctly but at least this helps a novice like me to know what is this about and have a base of this style and others :D

  • only the doubts in your mind will slow you down. thinking you cant learn from a video which obviously TEACHES you properly only proves YOU will not learn. in china people learned kung fu from scrolls to the point they mastered it. many self taught from watching animals. the only person fooling themselves is the narrow minded wannabe teacher talking shit. dmd54 and nivarica

  • That's true, all in the state of mind!

  • @alinhayes bro ur spot on! respect!

  • Actually, I like it when its more informal. It not only allows you to feel comfortable when doing movements, but also goes back to Wing Chun roots where it was taught much more informally!

  • master Wong you are great !

  • master wong, these vids are great! very simple to understand as i have wanted to learn a chinese martial art for a long time now. i have done karate which (to me) had more complex explanations than these wing chun lessons.

  • I personally dont blade my foot in order to strike with the edge. I prefer the heel area.

  • I think you should follow what he says. He makes every move according to how the kick will be presented and best way of stopping. Of course, maybe you will create a new style if you keep changing, and thats cool too :D

  • yes! thank you very much, you have helped me and my girlfriend a lot. we have been training without a master for at least a year and a half now and we both wanted to learn more and your tube videos turned up and helped fill some blanks. we can't wait for the next ones to come.

    many thanks!!!

  • @138mws

i like to learn Wing Chun .

Because it is an art and i love art and it teaches me how to be reverent and disciplined..

Do not criticize what you do not understand, whose way you did not follow, you do not understand his life.

  • @101varun Hey, i know im not a master or anything, but i used to have trouble with this too. I stretch everyday now and have no problems at all. So my advice is to just stretch your legs daily, it doesnt take long, and its very help in daily activities.

  • 5 STARS =D

  • what does he mean when he says 70/30?

  • 70% weight in one leg, 30% in the other.

  • Some of the best lessons on wing chun right here. Thanks for sharing.
