How many times a week/day do you practice weighted pullups? I was thinking of doing them in the morning, then evening. And just doing that twice a week.
Do you ever do it twice a day? Or do you just do one session for the day? Also can you tell me a little more about the sets and reps you use? I am trying to build mine up quick. Thanks.
Basically, I just started with weighted pullups using about 35 lbs. Did you use a particular training method to develop yourself via weighted pull ups?
NOW THATS WHAT THE FUCK IM TALKING ABOUT!! HELL YEAH... This video is the only REAL weighted pullups. Im so fucking tired of seeing pussy videos with neutral grip or arms to close together, and this guy did it all with perfect form(wide grip overhand and dead hang)!!!
im almost 18 yo, but im skinny 120lbs but i can do 1 rep with 45lbs of dumbell holds between be feet! i can do 17 wide grip pull ups! any suggestion to get better?!
@kaidiau I would supplement with 20 grams a day 5 days a week or 40 grams a day 3 days a week after your workouts.
Some will say that's not enough taking more wouldn't hurt but it will be expensive try and buy in bulk 10 lbs at a time tends to be cheaper.
As you do other workouts like legs, chest, shoulders, your going to gain weight and you might feel like you aren't getting stronger when you are getting heavier. don't neglect all your body parts, but do pull-ups first if that's your goal.
Is he using a thumbless grip? One slip and his private parts will have an unscheduled meeting with those large iron plates.
Actually, the conventional opposing thumb grip is less necessary on pulling movements than on pressing movements. Still, I would never perform a deadlift with a suicide grip.
I have my thumbs sort of on that pull-up bar. never slipped off before. I have tennis racket rubber tape on the bars. out of all the stuff I've tried it holds my grip the best.
I'm not advocating kipping pull-ups but, I've gotten to 140 lbs added by doing just what you see here. when I did 115 lbs perfectly I upped the weight where my form slightly suffered but still with a full ROM, from there improved.
Obviously it works & you don't wake up one morning and do weighted pull-ups with over 100 lbs.
I understand haters are going to hate, but haters don't do weighted pull-ups.
Having a spotter tap a bar up while benching is a form of cheating but its letting you get past a sticking point and lets your muscle work harder. you don't cheat to the point where your muscles aren't becoming dependent on it.
There is no correlation between body weight pull-ups and weighted ones.
I don't train for body weight ones so I've always only been able to do 26. but even though I don't train for them for some reason that number has never changed.
Great work! I still wonder why this exercise gets so little recognition as a test of strength compared to,say, the bench. I've done this for 40+ years now and unlike the bench, never even a slight injury. If you get a chance ,I have a vid on "rlamarine" site as well as my own.
Seems like people associate it with ape like chests, and throwing punches. Every kid has a friend who has a bench in the garage, too. It is dumb, though. Clean and jerk will tell you a lot more.
What about tendon (especially bicep tendon) inflammation? Muscle tearing in the forearms and/or biceps? I haven't had luck as good as yours with this exercise.
Nice man. Not only where you doing it with palms facing away but you also had a mega wide grip. The only thing is a little bit of kicking, but who gives a fuck? If you were having to pull yourself over a wall of course you would kick. So major props to ya.
ture i thought u were short. hey man is this good? i could do one rep with an 80 lb dumbell b/w my legs. im 6'2 and go all the way down and all the way up so its harder cause im tall, is 80 for 1 good? im 18 and 160 pounds. oh and their underhand grip, not the overhand grip like youdo dololololol
80 lbs is good its 50% of your body weighted added. changing the grip just takes getting used to I can't add a whole lot for chin ups.
the most weight I can clear the bar with is 165 lbs 86% of my 195 bodyweight make that your goal because I can't find any videos of someone else doing it.
haha holy shit, this is beastly. very impressive, and pefect form. the best I can do is 3 reps with 70 pounds on the belt. my goal is to be able to pull myself up from a cliffside with a female on my back (in case that ever happens)... this guy could do it 5 times!
I start with no weight for 10 reps (200lbs body weight), then attach a 45 for another 10. As of now I can get 2 reps with 95 lbs on the belt (wide grip), and close grip I can somehow get 4-5 reps. After that I usually follow it up with drop sets of close grip, but change it occassionaly. How long did it take you to get to 135?
I have watched all of this young mans videos. As a retired military member and one that has always tried to keep in shape, I have to say.... EXCELLENT! These videos can be used for positive motivation. Well done Marine!!!
Wow. Nice job. I have a support strut thingo in my garage I found that can be used for pull ups. I just filled up my backpack with 15kg and did them with those. I was proud of that, until I saw this :D.
what is the brand of the rack you're doing the pull ups from? I think i saw one like that at Dick's and thought about getting it, it's not there anymore. It was at a good price also.
its a Weider Club 650 I bought it off of craigs list for 120 but they bought it from Sam's Club a long time ago for a lot more. I fabricated a new pull-up bar for it from steel gas pipe and steel brakets you can see the old EZ shaped bar in some other videos.
very impressive....got to give it to you..good form..excellant weigth...how long did it tak you to get to that weigth.....any pointers i am finding it real hard to progress. at the monment i am going up by 1kg at a time...it's real hard....nice keep it up
you use gloves and still get calluses? I have calluses but I have built them up over time. They only look bad on back day. They are just there to protect your hands. what types of problems are you running into.
Been doing hangs off a pull-up bar with added weight on and off and its really improved my grip strength. Need about 72 hours between weighted pull-ups and deadlifts.
I think I'm doing it out of habit plus its two more fingers to hold the weight up. Some people say your thumb will affect the involvement of your biceps during a pull-up, but they might be over analyzing it.
