Absolutley fantastic, -- I'm working my way through '' Old Joe Clark '' on the banjo on one of Robs excellent teaching videos, and all these fantastic videos pop up as recommended viewing. I'm a fan, keep up the grreat work, and keep sharing.--Billy from Scotland
dunno how I missed this, but sure glad I caught it today--we are having a peekaboo gorgeous cloudy day here, and this sorta perfectly lends to the upperatmosheric slideshow...the sound is scrumptious (yes, it is possible)...wishthey had a loop button here.........thanks for the sunshine! LOL LaurieLee
No, Silly, LETTER PEOPLE!!!! And, by the way that is a great sounding mandolin. You are a master. I guess *I* will have have to a cover of The Letter People if you wont. I sure would like to hear what you would with Let It Ride by BTO as well. You are a guitarists' guitarist, my friend. wow as always.
i've heard a lot instrumental covers of this song, but this one is one of the best :)

Oh, I recently bought a cavaco, too! So I'd like to play this tune.
Did you tune in Dgbd, or in guitar tuning?
TheAlcedo 2 years ago

Sounds like it's hard to keep it in tune...

Not at all. I just have it tuned way too low for the strings I have on it.

Thanks for the info on that. I had questioned the etymology, but wasn't industrious enough to search it out, before I became sidetracked.
Thank you very much.

well,
While I'm still trying to learn how to play an American instrument (the 5 string banjo) you already play a Portuguese instrument (cavaquinho).
Cavaquinho is a nickname for Cavaco, which is the actual Portuguese President's name "Cavaco Silva".
Cavaquinho is an instrument mostly used by Portuguese Academic Folk Bands and northern part of the country traditional folk groups.

Thanks for introducing me to yet another beautiful instrument I had never heard of before. What a fantastic sound.
Pencil me in for a "field trip" to Gary Zimnicki's place in January, but I'll be in touch long before that.
Your website makes my day - every day.
Cheers Rob.

Hello Rob,
Always wonderful to hear you play!
That is a fascinating instrument. Your friend seems to be a magical craftsman. I would love to try out some of his guitars.
Thank you for posting your talent.

Very nice -- how does one tune a cavaquinho -- is it like a steel string tenor ukulele?
