  • The magic of the piezoelectric crystal :D

  • @rweerakkody4565 It's a regular moving coil cartridge, wired for vertical pickup. A crystal pickup could work too but would require a weight of at least 10 grams. A magnetic pickup is way more gentle.

  • THat actually sounds decent, a lot better then acustic reproduction.

  • Great device because it save these old valueful records from wearing of the grooves.

  • You are one freaking GENIUS - AMAZING!! Hats off to you!!

  • How much it will be? Do you ship abroad?

  • nice...

  • nice very nice...

  • Hey! What a great work!

I wish I could buy this machine from you!!

  • Are you replicating these?

  • Yes, there is a final PHR player version in production to be ready within the next months. This one is a working prototype and the final version will look much nicer.

  • With the final also be able to play 4 minute cylinders? I have several in my collection and no 4 minute machine at the moment.

  • Like the Apple I soon gave way to the nicer Apple ][. I had written programs for that computer, tried to set up my own software company -and couldn't make even one sale ! Then Bill Gates - hell be unto him- shut down Apple ][ production....

  • Ironically, despite the sucess of Sousa marches like this on phonograph and gramophone records, Sousa himself didn't actually like sound recording and only in his later years when the gramophone was effectively universal did he actually make any recordings.

  • How many grams does the tonearm weigh?

  • The arm itself weighs approx. 13g while usually working at a tracking force not exceeding 5g.

  • This is crazy how is that audio stored in a non digital device.

  • Wow that records looks and sounds great!

    Thanks

  • WOW. I see. The tonearm just glides across the track as it tracks the groove in the cylinder. GENIUS!

  • Thanks! It requires a good calibration but then works perfectly.

  • wow what a great set up. did you build it?

  • Yes, it is cooperative design.
