You know, when I was a kid, the only reason why I even CONSIDERED watching "the boring" Shining Time Station and Salty's Lighthouse was because of the model segments. And to think that the new CGI episodes have live-action segments as well.

The ONLY segments that weren't important in (ANY show) to watch that I actually ENJOYED were the Harbormaster parts from Theodore Tugboat.

Why didn't they just stick to the original series and dub them over the top with american voice actors like the Japs did if it upset them too much to have british accents? The original story is based in the 1920's America boom era so its right they should of had it aired but this is just stupid. No wonder there was no interest in another series.

@TheHankeyboy Bigg City Port did seem more like an American city than a British one. If they recast the voices it would have fine for an American audience (look how British Thomas the Tank is and that's had phenomenal success worldwide) This is another sad case of childrens' TV producers really underestimating/patronizing their audience. I was 4/5 when I first saw TUGS and I loved it, even though the odd line went over my head, I think that was fine because that's how you get children to learn.

TUGS is the sister seires of Thomas created by David Mitton, the late ex-director of Thomas, and Robert Cardona. When the seires came to American it was butchered by changing certaain characters names and genders, using censor bars over OJ's and Big Mac's names, and making childish new stories made entirely out of stock footage from the 13 episodes of TUGS. A disgrace to the series, really, but also nostalgic for some of us.

I know, right. Big Mac was changed to avoid a lawsuit with McDonalds, and O.J. was changed probably because of O.J. Simpson, but they could have had better names. Heck, they could have just left TUGS the way it was and not changed it at all, but no, it was too dark and "scary."
