@jonnagilda: This is reactive Armor, which protects the Tank against KE & HEAT-Ammo. The Uploader doesn't know Shit about Tanks, many Tanks in this Video are even outdated and not modern. The Type-90 ( Type-10 ) K2, and Leclerc are the most modern Tanks in Service. The Tank in the end, the T-80UM2 Black Eagle is a T-80 with a different turret, it isn't modern as it looks, even the T-90 is more modern.

@jonnagilda you mean the little boxes? this is a so called reactive explosive armor, those boxes are filled with small amount of explosives, and when rpg hits the tank, those things explode to push rpg blast away from the tank.

@jonnagilda I'm assuming its a very basic/primitive version of the reactive armor the US tanks have. When it gets hit by another tank or a very large non tank gun, the armor explodes out, pretty much negating the impact and damage of the round fired at them.

@jonnagilda I know you posted that question a month ago, but here is what those are. They are used against explosive like RPG(Rocket Propelled Granade). Those panels are actually small but very strong explosive compounds which react to rockets like this. When a rocket hits one of those panels they explode, but the explosion is only outward thus sending the allready detonated rocket and its shockwave away from the actual tank. That all happens within a milisecond. I hope this is understandable.

Its not very affective and its an outdated form of armour for the 21st century.

@taifunkchi1 I agree that the Challenger 2 is a better tank than the Abrams 1v1 but also there is the matter of producibillity think of the Callenger like the Panther and the Abrams like the T-34 while the Panther was superior the T-34 was still good and had a massive numericle superiority so the T-34 was still the war winner.

Also pretty much every tank on this list can shoot on the move, that has been pretty standard in tanks made after 1980

@wild50gunner Not exactly. The armors are great against AT weapons that are shoulder mounted and against older model tanks, but they both have similar armor and similar main guns. The abrams wins when it comes to speed, but the challenger with it's range. Both made improvements on the same armor both started with, both going separate ways. I didn't personally test or design them, but I can say it's pretty close and whoever shot first would also have a greater chance at victory.

@MegaBuster777 I have to disagree with you there the abrams depleted uranium armor is actualy verry well suited to take hits from the HESH rounds the british love so much in adition to APFSDS, though it has proven to be suprisingly vulnerable to infantry anti tank weapons like the newer RPGs, simmilarly the British Chobham armor is capable of taking just about whatever the Abrams can throw at it, so if the tanks where fighting each other I suspect that it could take a while.

@wild50gunner The only reason why I say RPG's wouldn't be very effective would be that they have 300mm's or armor penetration or upwards to 450mm's for the more advanced ones. This is RPG-7 along with the 2nd version. The DU in the abrams has been rated at 400mm's of RHS. That's before chobham, but both tanks have parts that are weak, but they may vary. I think the reason why the abrams overseas take that beating is from the heavier IED's in the area.

@MegaBuster777 fun fact the Abrams does not have Chobham (despite that everybody thinks it does for some reason) they do have quite good laminate steel armor based on Chobam but it dosent seem to work as well and as for the DU while it kicks ass against KE rounds from what I have seen HEAT cuts it like butter.

My point is that western tanks are better than Russian. For example Russian Defense minister Anatoly Serdyukov admitted in 2008 that some T90's still lacked night fighting equipment this is were the west rules and would rule the night with ease.
