  • I was at Hab from July 2007-2008 its funny to see home of the stuff still there form this video, 1st BN 1st MAR

  • Thanks for posting these photos. I lived at Camp Habbaniyah as a child between 1953 and 1958 with my family - my father was in the Iraqi army. I have fond memories of life there.

  • This place was a really cool place to be deployed to. I was fortunate enough to be here in 04-05. Our battalion had the whole camp to ourselves. When not on patrol, I loved to walk around the camp and sightsee around the abandoned buildings. Very good times.

  • I was there in 2008 with 2nd Bn 24th Mar and its sad to see pictures of what a nice base it was. I'm sure by now it has only gotten worse than when I was there. It has been used up and unappreciated after so much history

  • I was at Habb during my national service in 1958when the base closed after the coup,

I was billeted in D11 B west,,A16 H and at a bungalow in Martlesham Close,

    Oh what memories

Anyone else remember that time ? We will all be getting on a bit now

  • This is so interesting. This was the main base my unit was based out of in 2007 (USMC) even though we lived out in the villages surrounding the base and only came back for two days every two months for a shower, I remember sneaking into the old cinema that is shown here and going through the old abandoned film reels.... happy/ugly memories of Iraq

  • thanks for the video that's my city where i born and live till 2006
