He is so enthusiastic about the books- when he's describing how the 'daemons' in Pullman's world work he really has the tone of someone who is excited about a subject and genuinely wants to communicate that excitement to a person who is not familiar with the subject.
Charming! I love that he took the role out of love for the book series. Too many actors aren't familiar with the origins of their characters in movies adapted from books.
omg why people going on about it being anti-christian? i mean look at the di vinci code...even THAT didn't cause this much fuss, people actually believed it, and took it into consideration that this could have really happened. at least it's obvious it's make believe. i'm a catholic and i found the movie crap, but not because of the whole anti-christian thing. GET OVER IT!!

Phillip Pullman is a phenomenal author..I love book 1 but I really loved book 2..book 3 freaked me out alot, I DON'T like the antichristian themes..because I believe that Christ is EVERYTHING, yet I cannot excuse the talent of the books..the movie was good too.
they are yes... or perhaps you should say that they are anti-religion. The books praise anything natural, and the religious authorities are discribed as corrupt and evil. Lyra - the main character - is the modern Eve and her "sin" or "downfall" is the only thing that can save the univers(es).
i really think you should. it challenges the way we usually think about religion and i think that is really healty.
I'm an atheist but it is not like i'm a bad person, and i respect those who belive- faith is a private thing. I belive in charity and all that, but i think that religion is often being used for more evil than good (which is the argument of the books)i don't belive that there is a God. we alone are responsible and we must trust our reason and intellect to make the good decisions
As AmandaRokk said, the book is very transcendental. My interpretation was that it was all for nature and natural things...but I also think the whole religious conflict is a little over the top. It's a story...and I guess an opinion. I'm not highly religious but I do believe there is a god somewhere, and even though the book is about overthrowing, supposedly a god, i loved all three books immensely.

He is the best actor to play James Bond. I am glad he has many offers to do other roles than this so he wont be typecast. You rock Daniel Craig.
