Thanks for posting this Joe. I've fallowed Brandon's up and downs forever now and it's just another piece of the puzzle called addiction and I believe quite possibly a Dual-Diagnosis. He and I are about the same age and our life is almost a paralleled story of addiction and loss. I hate that he has to be a poster boy for us junkies, but I'm glad there is a poster to see.

@XxVisceralxX I was on pills and i've been clean for a while now. when you're going through withdrawal, you just have to think about the people that love you.Your friends, your family,if you're in a relationship think about them too.Think about literally how much pain they would suffer if you were to Overdose.and do the absolute best you can to get rid of all contact with dealers,other users,etc. Always think positively.If I didnt think i'd get hate for it, i'd also say have faith in god.

@charliehockey78 subutex/suboxone are meant for rapid detox, beyond like a week or two, they give you insane withdrawals, drs dont know how to dispense them. good luck man
Drug addiction is a very sad illness. The people Novak describes, the ones that are constantly observing him, sleeping or awake, is actually what I do. I know that it's unsettling ( I would HATE being watched like that), but we're a necessary evil. I've seen the destruction, sometimes made by a few bad choices, and I've watched people die because of it. Take all the help you can possibly get, and try...just try. If you fall off the wagon, you won't be the first, just make sure you get back on it
I hope Brandon can keep his demons at bay and be happy with life. I've been clean from heroin/opiates for 2 years (after about 12 years of use) except I'm currently on methadone tapering my dose. Haven't pissed dirty ever which I"m really proud of. I know coming off methadone ain't gonna be easy, but I HATE having to take it and can't wait till i'm off it.

@infamousstitch I've been on subutex for 5 years now and withdrawaled from it 5 times successfully but every time somewhat down the road I end up back on it, the withdrawals are so horrible and terrible, they are like 10 times worse than oxycontin withdrawals were. I take Bupenorphine (Subutex). I fuckin hate it. I want to be clean so bad so I can just move on with my life. But exactly like that kid just said, the withdrawals are INSANE. I hate pills and wish I had known that I was trading years of my life for a few hours of feeling good.

@XxVisceralxX I was on pills and i've been clean for a while now. when you're going through withdrawal, you just have to think about the people that love you.Your friends, your family,if you're in a relationship think about them too.Think about literally how much pain they would suffer if you were to Overdose.and do the absolute best you can to get rid of all contact with dealers,other users,etc. Always think positively.If I didnt think i'd get hate for it, i'd also say have faith in god.

And for me thats writing music,poetry,etc.Theres always something deep down that is undiscovered that you were meant to pursue.Every single day, just keep a clean mindset.You have the courage and the ability to get off of the most addictive substance,your pride and your love for your family and friends is stronger than any addiction. remember that. Drug addiction is a very sad illness. The people Novak describes, the ones that are constantly observing him, sleeping or awake, is actually what I do. I know that it's unsettling ( I would HATE being watched like that), but we're a necessary evil. I've seen the destruction, sometimes made by a few bad choices, and I've watched people die because of it. Take all the help you can possibly get, and try...just try. If you fall off the wagon, you won't be the first, just make sure you get back on it

I hope Brandon can keep his demons at bay and be happy with life. I've been clean from heroin/opiates for 2 years (after about 12 years of use) except I'm currently on methadone tapering my dose. Haven't pissed dirty ever which I"m really proud of. I know coming off methadone ain't gonna be easy, but I HATE having to take it and can't wait till i'm off it.

Man I feel for him and anyone going through that crap. I went up and down and in and out of this kind of crap for a while in my life. I mean I've never been in rehab or anything but I have been to the hospital and whatnot. I've messed around with everything from cough medicine to E and let me tell you...NONE of the shit out there is worth doing even once. I would do anything to go back and actually listen to D.A.R.E. or whatever. I was lucky and got out of all that shit on my own as I grew up

@infamousstitch I've been on subutex for 5 years now and withdrawaled from it 5 times successfully but every time somewhat down the road I end up back on it, the withdrawals are so horrible and terrible, they are like 10 times worse than oxycontin withdrawals were. I'm going to try and withdrawal off this stuff again in 2 months, I hope this time I stay off it forever. I know exactly what you and Brandon are talking about, and your right.

Brandon Novak was why i got into skating... i used to see him on viva la bam and think thats who i wanted to be when i grew up. i read his book... and realized that drugs had fucked up his life. he had a choice of a pro skater and a heroine user... he made a bad decision and im kinda sad. but i will always love Brandon Novak. he is still my role model..... he just needs to pick good choices. I ended up in the psych ward a few times from xanax,you cant just kick them you got to ween off them slow,they are worse then the heroin.I woke up in jail once from a pill and dope bender and didnt know what I did,now that shit was scary I thought I killed somebody.
