  • Amazing! Thanx for posting it.

  • I love this! So many similarities to western folk music but with that unmistakable Chinese twist.

  • The instrument is called a koto or chinese harp. It is 24 string harp which is tuned in a acending major pentonic scale.

  • @smalltins: erp... Guzheng, actually. The koto looke like a guzheng, but the koto is a Japanese instrument that sounds a little more like a guitar. I LOVE this song, though. Thanks for uploading this!

  • @smalltins This instrument is in fact not the Koto. The koto is the Japanese adaptation of the 'Guzheng' (transliterated) ortherwise known as the Chinese Zither, whereas this IS the Guzheng. Although both are played with 'claws'/picks, they are two entire different instruments with differing intervals between each string. PS: there may have been some negative Japanese bias in my comment, but I can't help but clarify the difference. Some may disagree.

  • @Arissef thats because there government tries hard to surpress information and keep them locked up as much as they can. • Guzheng is such a lovely interment!

  • beautiful music

  • The instrument has 24 strings all tuned to a major pentonic scale. The instrument is actually very light as it is hollow. Its a very beautiful device to play.

  • i love chinese folk music too...relaxes your tention

  • I wonder how the scale translates in Western Music. Some of it sounds pentatonic.

  • Yes, most Chinese music pentatonic. It is kind of ditonal, and I often find it hard tell if its pentatonic major or minor.

  • beautiful

  • relaxing mks me wanna go sleep

  • WOW...Increbidle...... :)

  • This instruments looks and sounds very similar to KANKLES, a traditional Lithuanian chordophone (plucked string musical instrument). Our folk music is different, though.

There's nothing like Chinese folk music! It's like meditation music :-)

  • hmm lithuanian i am interested in folk music so i would like to know if you could provide me with info about lithuanian music, you know, structures, rythms, dunno, things that would make me know when to go hey that's lithuanian music

  • I KNOW! but i love how it seems to tell a story about the land's beauty and love. don't you?

  • It s a Koto. Very similar to the hammered dulcimer as well, except it is usually plucked.

  • this is a guzheng (古筝).

A koto is a Japaneses variant of this instrument but is basically the same.
