@smellytoilet1996 tech turn sell refurbished z61t for 400 $ and you get a 3 months waranty + good specs and they look usaly almost new (i bought one 2 months ago)
install TPfancontrol and set the fan to run at level 7 when it hits 60 degrees, this will maximise the laptop's longevity. Overall i like the Z61t design.
Also clean the fan once in a while, by taking off the keyboard.
Haha, I bought the computer from my fathers work place, Progressive insurance. I love the computer, it's fantastic. I do like the Titanium lid better, but I don't have that. What ever. This is very light though.
@HP100ify I don't know, this is what Lenovo replaced it with.

download TP fan control.62 to ramp up your fans RPM thats what I've done with my 61t its up at 5102 RPM right now.

How much did this cost?
smellytoilet1996 1 year ago
@smellytoilet1996 Over 2000 when it was new, but I'd like about 650 for mine today. I would be willing to sell it for that.

This is just when Lenovo bought the PCs from IBM in late 2005-2006. This is Lenovo built, IBM branded.

Yup, as long as it has "IBM" Logo on it i'll be happy lol expensive these are but worth it because its an IBM lol

I have never seen a z61t with a glossy lid before. Z61t has a crippled thermal management system. The rpm of the fan never reaches 3300 rpm.

Yeah, it doesn't really get hot though. Is there any way to bypass that though?

Where did you get a z61t with a glossy lid? And what's the significance of the blue "PROGRESSIVE" text on the end opposite the "IBM ThinkPad" logo?
Funny that my 1997 ThinkPad 560 is slightly thinner and noticeably lighter (though it is a 12.1").

I like glossy laptop lids and screens for some reason, lol. It seems like you have some sort of aftermarket
I will soon get a z61t, that's why I was wondering that.

Ohhh. You will really love it!! Make sure you get the dual core processor and at least 2gb of Ram!

Nope, the Z61t was designed and built by Lenovo. They simply sold the laptops with the IBM brand until 2007.
The "Z" light isn't there because it's a Z series - my T61 has the same thing. It simply indicates that the power is on.

i must say this unit is quite rare.
z-series thinkpads are usually just offered with a matte black or a titanium lid. yours has glossy black lid just like the s-series.
