  • Is it work?

    I have to know!

  • Great video it worked!!! Thanks a ton for this ya just saved me $150 was about to go buy a new 1

  • It wont work......*sigh* I really want to break this Wii.....

  • thank you thank you thank you thank you =) now I dont have to get a new one <33333 I love you. like seriously bro =P

  • brawl is still no work

  • You smart like chicking will learn that ? High school

  • umm... its stuck inside.....

  • a gamecube like design would have made things a lot easier

  • THIS DID NOT WORK FOO

  • Lol @Dlewiis dock error :D

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH! Last Story is now working! Awesome helping there, many karma points for you friend!

  • @wtfronsson i have the nintendo lense cleaner but it has not worked :( and my last story limited edition arrived today :( today is a bad day indeed

  • @dougweskerdjt you should propably try again a couple of times. and if that fails, follow this video instruction. my friend and i used a patch of fleece cloth taped onto a cd. push the disc in GENTLY, then wigle it around a bit. repeat if fail. if it just will not work, then the laser lens is propably a goner for good. keep trying, hope it works.

  • what is the disk is stuck inside how do i get it out?

  • i cleaned my lens and before i did it i'd have a dick error cant read thing. and when i did what you said to do it helped!!! because now the game actually pops up but when i click on it to play it the black error screen pops up what do i do? please help

  • Help out a lot! Thanks!!!

  • Porn on youtube.

  • 0:36 bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz next you hear an ambulance cos he was shocked badly lol

  • My Wii can't read SSBB anymore, but that's because scratched it up beyond belief, I think. If a new copy doesn't work through, I'll try this. Don't trust myself much to do it really.

  • operation wii

  • whats a dual thingy disc?

  • Thanks for the help!! It hasn't worked yet but I'm still trying.

  • Jam2k13 u can send it too Wii company oooooorrrrrr u can dissect it but if your not experienced you will end up with a destroyed Wii x.x

  • @ChrisKemila ok i did this, but i didn't have a fabric band-aid, so i used toilet paper and everything was going good until i decided to do one final cleaning to make sure it was clean and when i pulled out the disc...all of the toilet paper was missing. It got stuck inside my Wii. Do you have any suggestions on how to get it out??

  • @JAM2K13 LMFAO

  • Does this really work?

  • When he was wiping the lens I was all ''Oh yeah, baby. You like that, don't you?'' XD

  • How do you know if it's a dual layer disc? My super smash bros, super paper Mario, new super Mario, and Mario party all have the error message. Did this trick it didn't work. Took the wii apart cleaned lens with a q-tip now super smash bros work but the others still won't read. All of my non Mario games and Mario Kart work..

  • my brawl is a little... unusual(2-3 years old, no scratches, used proper cleaning)

    1. when brawl is in the system(before i power it on), the wii remote will not work/ turn on

2.if i put brawl in after "press A to continue" the wii remote works, but brawl will never be read.

3.even if it is read, it will automatically say "an error has occured" and all that stuff.

    4. Every other game works perfectly

I don't think it is the lens....

do you think you can solve this..... or do i do above.

  • if anyone wants their Wii lens' replaced, I know how and will install for a small fee....Nintendo & Microsoft charge $70-$90 for this repair....I do it for $25. If anyone is interested, let me know. Thx.

  • Thank you, it fixed the majority of the problem; reads all but Metroid Prime Trilogy, which just takes a few re-insertions.

  • Really was wishing it would have worked... :( Wahhhhhhh- Prob next step take er apart ...

  • Awesome, it works!

  • It works!

  • Worked! Thank you!

  • See I bought the first wii and my super smash brawl game worked on it. But after years went by it stopped working. I'm going to try this but can I use any kind of soft cloth an what kind of alcohol should I use? Please respond A.S.A.P!!! I don't want to send my wii to china! Please anybody!!! ;(

  • This is really epic, even though I use Wiiflow now, but this is helpful since I can play Melee again. You sir are a genius.

Where were you hiding when this problem emerged 3-4 years ago?! >.<'

  • Mine works, always did :D HAHAHAHAH :D

  • Can this still work today because i was playing bully scholarship edition and what type of bandage do i need?

  • To everyone who is saying that they are having problems with SSBB it's not because of this....i have bought the game 3 times and even when they were brand new they wouldn't play...it is not becuase of this though, almost all SSBB discs have problems...im gonna try this right now so hopefully it works

  • What about kirby's epic yarn and rock band?

  • you know this pisses me off because i threw out brawl about a year ago

  • ok right now i did this once brawl got to the loading screen then failed. 2nd try brawl got to the main menu. 3rd try hopefully today is my lucky day.

  • T_T It didn't work, SSBB still won't work! My mom thinks it's because she had the disc de-magnetized (I told her, it's not that), I did this, but It STILL won't HELP!

  • Comment removed

  • This worked for me as well. I used the little felt thing at the bottom of my CD-R stack and a bunch of duct tape. Thanks!

  • hey, i just want to say thanks because this actually worked, and to all respect keep making awesome videos:)

  • I recently got this in my SSBB, and mario galaxy games, but the thing is, my wii only have two weeks!!!

  • i inserted dj hero 2 and it wouldent read after the warnings . and i did this and know it doesent even detect the disk , any help?

  • Holy shit it works. My ssbb was not working for 1 year and it had an error in the disk part and now it works dam... Thanks man!

  • it happed to my mario cart wii

  • you saved me a big headache -- thanks so much it worked. i used a 2" square piece of gauze from my first aid kit, scotch taped it to a CD.

  • thanks it helped alot

  • thanks it worked i didnt have any bandaides so i used toliet paper

  • This works!!! BUT you have to insert while the Wii is on. It did not work otherwise.

  • 1 dislike did this guy use fucking sandpaper

  • So glad i wasted my effing time watching this. Doesn't even work. You oh me 2 bandaids!

  • @mcotoni haha top comment right herre

  • :((( DIDN'T WORK!!!:((((

  • hmm... i dont know about this one but i will try it

  • were do you get the little paper

  • I really need help and i would love if someone replied to this with advice. my dad tripped over a chord connected to my we making it fall of the table. my super smash bros brawl was is in and its still inside my wii but it says it can't read it. Please i need help with this!

  • @xcoldsoulx69 the easiest way possible would be to open your wii and remove the disc manually i could make a video if you like just respond to this comment and approve

  • man thanks so much. my wiis been broken for so long and i didnt know what to do!

  • i tried to find some bandades around the house but couldnt but do u think gauz (that bandage stuff) would work????

  • well a day ago i tried this method and ruin even worse my lens before it start reading but stop in the process now it doesn't even start so i was very sad and tried the most risky choice so i must tell to think it twice. i will buy a laser replacement and tell you if it works. i am really scared i messed up with something else of the wii.

  • dude! it works! my xenoblade doesn't halt anymore! :D btw to you people suffering from this stupid disc problem, another solution is simply to eject and reinsert the disc and the game picks up where it left. but this method really works too :)

  • tried that a zillion times but im kinda scared to do this after reading all these comments lol

  • i tried it, it didnt work but thank GOD it didnt break anything either guess ill try something else

  • i got the official one ages ago for brawl and it worked for brawl, but with me xenoblade only reads sometimes then when i do load it im walking about randomly and it will come up with "an error has occurred" etc. sooo i think my lens is broke :(

is it free to get your wii fixed from nintendo?

  • Be very, VERY careful when doing this; I tried and I think I might've scratched the lens, now it won't register that there's a disk in the drive at all.

Be careful, and don't use small, thin plasters. xD

  • @AtaraxiaMedia Oh no. Did you use a non soft fabric band-aid "plaster"? Well you may have simply smudged the lens with some of the adhesive or the infused disinfectant. Before you do anything else, try again with some kind of clean soft non abrasive cloth/pad. Glue or use double sided tape to stick it to the disk your using & use a little rubbing alcohol as well.

I think the lens is harder to "scratch" then you might think, you probable just made it dirtier then it was before. Good luck.

  • @ChrisKemila Yeah I thought that might've happened too, I suppose it's worth a try. At this point though, I might as well just buy the official Nintendo one before I try again, I don't trust myself anymore. xD

    Thanks for the advice!

  • @AtaraxiaMedia I was going to suggest you try the official one at this point as well. Best of luck.

  • @ChrisKemila Well... I got the official one. Didn't help at all. (I did clean off a lot of crap though xD)

    I guess it's a hardware problem... Something's bork. :/

  • @AtaraxiaMedia Does it read regular disks again, or does the lens need to be replaced? Sorry it didn't work out for you.

  • @ChrisKemila how many inches is the piece of cardboard

  • @ChrisKemila or just softmod your wii to play backups on a usb hard drive

  • @ChrisKemila what the hell my dragon ball game is not reading

  • @ChrisKemila Oh, and they weren't fabric plasters, some sort of smooth, almost card like material. I think what happened was that I wiggled the disk too much, and the plaster slid off the lens, then dragged back on again when I wiggled the other way.

I think the smudging the lens theory is probably accurate. xD

  • @ChrisKemila my lens on my wii did that, i opened it up and sorta managed to fix it but it only let me play like 5 min.......... so i replaced the disc drive with a new one :)

  • Tried to clean it with the official Nintendo kit, still doesn't work for me :(

  • @CorioDesign Oh really? That's no good. Did you try repeating the cleaning steps 3 or 4 times? It may be that you've cleaned the lens but the lens/laser itself is old & weak, & needing to be replaced. I feel real bad for you guys who are having trouble. Do you have access to another Wii to test the game itself? If you're under warranty call Nintendo & see if they can replace the lens for you. Nintendo is very good about fixing malfunctioning consoles, sometimes even if the warranty is exp

  • @ChrisKemila Thanks for the info, I called them, they offered to fix it, but I don't have my receipt anymore, so my other option was to let them repair it for 83 euro. A friend of me however suggested me to buy a new drive from ebay, and I just ordered a brand new one for 20 euro. Lets hope it arrives fast! My wii is very old (bought on release date in 2006) so the drive is probably dead.

  • I cant play Xeno either

  • I can't play Xenoblade :(

  • @chumphonFC @thirdeyenuke Did you try the cleaning? I had a heck of a time getting it to work with Metroid Other M (also a dual layer game), but after I repeated the cleaning process a few times it worked like a charm & still does.

When you pop in the disk does the Wii even recognize the game?

  • @ChrisKemila

Sometimes it doesn't, but usually it does recognize the game. The problem is once the game has booted it tells you it's loading and then after a few seconds I'm told it can't read the disc and to turn off the Wii.

  • @chumphonFC The game would either not be read by the Wii at all, or when I tried launching the Wii would auto reboot, then show no disk in the disk channel. FYI I have a Wii with the first chip set revision.

Do you know someone with a Wii that you could test it on?

You might want to call Nintendo, they might be able to take your Wii & replace the lens for free if you're under warranty, or cheaply if you calmly explain what's happening.

Good Luck. You did try cleaning it several times right?
