Let me set the record straight. This "HEN" gives us eggs every few months, so despite all the good intended comments about knowledge of roosters...this bird is a FEMALE! Also, she is the product of the local wild chicken population, so there is no exact breed to speak of. Each hen in this neighborhood gets "raped" by every rooster several times a day, so genealogy is rather difficult.

it doesn't look like a plymouth rock. A black ply. rock wouldn't have color on its neck. I think it's a black sex link from what I can see in the video, although the hen isn't exactly staying still enough to get a very good look (but it doesn't seem to be a black rock). for all those that are thinkin that hen is a rooster it definetely isn't....for one it's comb isn't big enough and roosters "carry" themselves much differently than hens. That is just an aggressive hen, and btw....whether it's a rooster or a hen, they are all chickens!!!

@5688bd713 Crikey, you might be right. I'm not an expert, but used to have some friends with black rocks. Now that I've looked at Cochin pictures, it could be one, as it has no upright 'tail' like the Black Rocks do. Their colouring is quite similar in the black.

And the male Cochins have 'trouser' feathers that almost cover their feet! :¬)
