While Peta do suck. They weren't the only ones who complained about the chimp being featured, many organisations like chimp sanctuaries complained, but for a good reason. They didn't complain because they're over sensitive, but because of the experience they have of ex-entertainment chimps, who often after spending their childhood years in an alien environment often have psychological problems and many are just sent to research facilitieswhen they're too big to handle.

It's amazing the depths that PETA will go to garner attention to themselves. Sure, they have good intentions a lot of the time but this is absolutely ridiculous! This particular chimp was undoubtedly very well treated. They probably even provided him his own private trailer. There are animal treatment laws in place when it comes to the entertainment industry. Hell, this monkey is probably better off than most people are. PETA definitely went down a few notches in my books. Attention whores.

I say this as a researcher of animal behavior who has worked with chimps in the past.
