If it is the case that men in Arabic countries do beat their wives, because they do believe that the Qur'an does include instruction that they should do so, then why should anyone believe that those Arab men who beat their wives do not understand the ARABIC of the Arabic Qur'an correctly, and that people who are not Arabs, but who believe that the ARABIC Qur'an does not say that wives should be beaten are not actually the ones who have received the mistranslation(s) of the Qur'an?

So to say that it is the text of the Qur'an cannot be changed is misleading. Any and even all written texts that bear the title of 'Qur'an' most certainly can be changed. It is only the FIRST ORAL RECITATION of the Qur'an that cannot be changed.
