Oooh... I love this... one of the quintessential Kate Bush songs about the spiritual pursuit of truth and awareness about the things that have happened to us. So true... "not till I'm ready for you", we don't confront the things that should be apparent until we are ready to deal with them.
She was busy raising her son and thought he deserved at least a few years without the music business interfering in his life so she took a break. A very very long break. Glad she's back.
The best of all of Kate Bush's songs - well, in my humble opinion that is. It has such a hypnotic rhythm and some beautiful lines. That voice is just so wonderful and I'd don't think we'll hear anything as great as this again. Ok, I'm getting carried away here, but she is good and that in itself is an understatement. Wonder if Kate will ever come out of retirement to once again enthrall a new generation of fans - someone should write a rock-opera about this exceptional lady. Webber and Rice?
I heard this song on the radio yesterday for the first time in over 25 years.
Like smelling a madeleine, I was transported back to that place and time. Overwhelmed with sadness at the loss of that experience, but happy to be reminded of this song and this album.
I could never make out the lyrics, but looked them up today, and watched the various forms of the video that are posted on YouTube.
I can't believe a radio station played this song! That's fantastic! So many radio stations and music channels would never permit playing something as artistic and un-commercial as anything off The Dreaming in favour of a quick, flashy pop song which is a shame. So many people miss out on this masterpiece record.
@NazTb0y I know this reply is really late, but I think the he and she are references to Adam and Eve. Busting through walls is an allegory for Eve 'breaking' Adam out of Eden, and how women are still wrongfully blamed for it. The song is about purgatory and catholicism...or so I've read. Makes sense. The songmeanings page for this song is really informative.
I'm glad that ra ra riot covered this b/c that's what led me to discover kate, but no way in Hell is it better. the only aspect of ra ra riot's version that I find interesting is the percussion in the refrain. other than that, the guy's voice is transparently contrived. he does an especially bad job with "you hoo hoo hoo."
put mine on ebay some guy from the states bought them, found my own kate,we all fade unfortunately..thought this was her peak musically and shagtastically
I really love the song! I have nothing more to say.

Why does that part with Kate spinning in mid-air remind me of Tori Amos? Did Tori do the same for one of her videos? *scratches head*

Oh god, could you imagine?
'Kate Bush, she's very nice,
That's why she wrote Wuthering Heights
Oooh, and Cloudbusting too
and probably quite another few...'
Andrew Lloyd Slapped-Arse and Tom Rice are the complete antithesis of her work.
The only way to understand her, is to listen to her work - that's who she is. Anything else is exploitation or fan-wank.

@Ruthin2007 retirement? not sure that's the case, but she does take an annoyingly bloody long time to release albums doesn't she.
