What a wonderful Silvertone. I also have a portable one. It's a bit different in design, but the tonearm and reproducer are the same. I have several videos of it on my other channel dedicated to 78 records. Thanks for sharing yours! I think it sounds great!
that poor record! I know it's got vintage appeal, but honestly - get a new turntable, that needle will be destroying the grooves with every rotation. Quite a few modern turntables can do 78rpm so you shouldn't have a problem.
Thanks for the advice but one of the reasons I posted this video/audio is so others can enjoy this record EXACTLY the way it was meant to be played on the player that existed when it was new. (See Comment Below) I understand that this player wears out the records a little at a time but it is worth it to me (I own them, remember?) to sacrifice a bit of fidelity so others can enjoy them. Also, now that they are uploaded I don't have to play them with a steel needle. I just listen to them here.
there is no video but, this tune as well as the singing, the music and the ambience, plus, that " long time ago " sound, ooooo, weeeee..., that stuff sent chills up and down my back. I haven't heard anything this good since I've been listening to blues. what do I have to get it? Who is it? Who are they? Is this lowell fulson? Please someone, contact me!
That was cool to watch on the old player. Thanks for posting.
