I don't find nothing wrong with this theme song. I've been looking for this for years. This happens to be a cool intro. There always have to be someone hating on the old school shows.
Whether in Canada or the US, you now have to subscribe to 500 gazillion channels to find a decent kid show without the stupid political correctness. And generalist networks like ABC, CBS, CTV, GLobal do not have kids shows anymore. Period. I am glad i grw up in the 1970s.
The voices of those people singing are pretty annoying. I definitely prefer hearing the song for the Tom & Jerry Show, rather than the song for the T&J Grape Ape Show.
The same could be said for the original 1976 theme song for "The Scooby-Doo/Dynomutt Hour," which alternates vocals between Velma/Daphne and Fred/Shaggy.
=) I must say - they have added a terrific value of show-intro alongside with the Grape Ape & Beagle Beegle. And with that, Tom & Jerry has always become the most popular show there is on network from Kids WB and even Boomerang from Cartoon Network as well.
Saturday mornings were for kids.. life was simple. Today.. you'll see 349948 homicides, 48498 burning buildings, 54309809 terrorist attacks all before 8 am.
I'd NEVER seen this before! It's more than a treat, but a blessing for fans like me who missed out on the original run on ABC Funshine Saturday in 1975-76 and grew up watching afterschool reruns (obviously altered for syndication). :^)
I, for one, never thought I'd ever see this opening sequence (much less the closing credit sequence). I was brought up in the syndicated era. Tom & Jerry was shown frequently and I rarely saw Grape Ape.
Always wanted to see how it was originally aired. So this is a real treat.
Nothing sadder than finally seeing a childhood moment again, just to realize it took too long to find it, and the nostalgia shock isn't there. I barely remember this, but I know I watched it every week!
It was the 1976-77 season. That season also witnessed Scooby-Doo returning in his new series, with a new supporting player named Dynomutt: Dog Wonder.

Why did they make this?

And you would like it if this series and "Mumbly" that came later, would benefit from the Warner Archive MOD (manufacture on demand) program.

Yes, Saturday Morning Cartoons 1970's Volume 2.

Do you have closing credits, bumpers, etc?
InYourFaceNewYorker 2 years ago 8
Vocals of the song are done by Lennie Weinrib and Marty Ingels.
heine71 2 years ago 8
The vocals are done by different people for the syndicated "Tom & Jerry Show" and "Mumbly Cartoon Show" titles.

Oh wait! The background music would later be used in 1976 for the "Mumbley Cartoon Show" series.

Actually, Mumbley joined T&J-GA during mid-season. In syndication they used the same song to save time and money.
