I am not entirely convinced of her theory mainly because most of her "evidence" hinges of certain assumptions like he disguised his handwriting and wrote all of the letters or he had an abnormal sexual organ which made him hate women cause he couldn't have sex with them or that he uses the same paper so the letters were his etc. there is really no clear and irrefutable proof of her hypothesis. Patricia Cornwell is BRILLIANT!!! An incredibly smart woman & author & I could NOT put her non-fiction book down about Jack the Ripper. Everything in it made sense. I couldn't refute it, nor would I. Her novels are brilliant as well.
Really, she should have written a novel about Scarpetta investigating the Ripper murders instead. That's something she could do adequately, while she truly sucks at real research & investigation. It's like deciding the result first and then conducting the research in a manner that will fit that result.
It doesn't require much time and intuition to say that the ripper was a freemasonry member controlled by aristocratics. Crimes were circoscripted into a limited time period and ended, rituals involved, no trace of killer, like in Florence monster crimes in the 70's. The real killer was society and moral costumes at that time.
@jonathan30005 You do know there lie a few years between Guy Fawkes and Jack the Rippe, dont you? More like a lot of years. Guy Fawkes was also hanged by the way, so there would not even be a possible way for him to be the Ripper, even IF the time period would fit. Which it doesn't.
this woman is gonna solve the case finally, and Jack the Ripper will be put in jail for good, they're gonna throw the key away... you hear that you maniac, your days are numbered, pal..
Why do we have to know about how much money this "writer" made and how much more privileged she is than the "average" person? Don't "average" people dream to have more? She's not very bright and annoying. Time to watch another JtR documentary cuz this one sucks. No offense to the video poster though.
@volpe3fuego I agree with you as well as with certain other dectractors, ShannaMyers included, that something is wrong here. I don't beleive a word of Patricia"s "Ripper". She's got a lot a bucks to make, another million, and that's all. it's James Mabrick, the real Ripper, stay tuned.
he was not the first serial killer.....he was just one of the first brought to the public attention..........they also no who he was,not sure on name, but he was a local surgen!! went crazie from a std....
The very charismatic tour guide of the Jack The Ripper walk in East London gave a distinct hint it could have been the free masons, of which Walter Sickert was one. We talked about how utterly crap the Patricia Cornwell 'novel' was. I don't think I can watch any more of this.
@TouchedMyDreams because his name was jack maybe??????? and being gay back then you were hung so i dont think that they would have been female prostitutes if jack was a women
Isn't the new evidence pointing to American "surgeon" Francis Tumblety. Who when he died was found with the alleged cheap fake gold rings of Mary Kelly. Also.. he was a woman hater who collected uterus's. They tried to extradite him...
I think Cornwells commitment to this thing is commendable. Its pretty certain that Sickert penned the Openshaw letter in my mind, and thats a greater contribution to ripperology in real terms, than one hundred bullshit Doctor theories.
Its not Sickert there is stong evidence he wasn't even in England for some of the murders. In addition he was a married man, with children, who has a string of affairs and bastard children. He does seem do have had an obsession with murderers though - he had some interest in Dr Crippen. I think what PC has demonstrasted is that Sickert probably wrote some of the hoax letter the Yard recieved.
I believe Jack the ripper was not only one person, if you love at some of the victims some have clean cuts, and organs removed as if it was done by a sugeon and some look hacked up like a butcher, and I have read a few letters and the content and grammer change as more victims occured. I think that some one took his name and started going on his own killing spree.
The Ripper wasn't a cultured man like Sickert or even a member of the Royale family, but rather, he was probably a poor person that did this to sell body parts. Body parts were big business back then and prostitutes were, and have always been, accessible victims. The letters were from some sick pathetic person that wanted the attention. People made money from books and such proclaiming they know who he was...
Just like prostitution murder is an old craft !!!! In the bible Cain kills Abel,so this case is nothing new or nothing to be revered or be awed by,all of you and this author are silly!!!!
WOW! look at all of you Sherlock Holmes's.. EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU SHOULD WORK FOR: THE FBI, SCOTLAND YARD, FSI. You are THAT GREAT with your theories and such..
you may think I'm nuts, but I believe her. Face it, there has been no physical evidence as to who the Ripper was. Granted, there is no guarantee that Sickert was the Ripper, but the evidence in her book, from someone with experience in the crime lab, is pretty compelling.
Awful programme, Cornwall is making a complete fool of herself. They even showed a picture of Martha Tabram and claimed it was Mary Nichols, for heaven's sake.
All this silly broad proves is that Walter Sickert wrote the Ripper letters, not that he was the Ripper. Think about that - the guy who wrote the letters was not necessarily - and was not likely - the one who killed these women.
although sickert does look good for it, I tend to believe the psychological profile and geographic profile and they say he was most likely a unassuming man you would never suspect and he was from whitechapel. the police most likely interviewed and dismissed him as a suspect. then his identity was lost to the ages.
@abductedbyaliens8892 justice you say , you think they are victims , you should see what they done to william wallace 600 years earlier, check william wallace executions on youtube , you will see he died in a very similar fashion , then wallace reincarnated as prince eddy and paid back the karmic debt.
@abductedbyaliens8892 she did not want justice for them , its impossible to fight for others in not in human nature, you have to search your intuition to see what she really wants .
NO ONE DOES ANYTHING FOR ANYONE UNLESS ITS FOR THEMSELVES
she could be right, but alot of suspects have alot of stuff on them, the mystery is we dont know, who??/ ive been to whitechapel, ive been researching that case for years, its alot of stuff..The ripper was crazy/
-Before you might critizise my comment about this issue, DO read her book on this subject. That may put some interesting, new thoughts into some heads that has given up or stating this is a dead & cold case. The case might be cold but far from some very compelling conclusions based on hard work by Ms. Cornwell. So far, out of all the theories out there, this one stands really stands out.
Of all the JTR theories Patricia's the one that really stands out professionally. Her background knowledge and objectivity serves this case the best so far. I think she is barking up the RIGHT tree. Finally!
I'm impressed by her verbal communication skills. If she writes with the same clarity, have no doubt as why she is a celebrated author. Destiny took it's course. From the eyes and mouth of a babe is the un-jaded innocence to see, discover and speak the truth. When what you do is done to the highest degree possible, without regard for financial reward, is when your rewarded financially. In spite of financial success, that person likely continues to work. The ability is amplified, not wasted.
A fiction writing man-hating feminazi's opinion holds as much water as mine. Oh have you ever seen the Devle, with his mikerscope and Scalpel, a'lookin'at a Kidne with a slide cocked up?
First of all learn to SPELL!!! second of all any speculation on who he was is just that speculation. third how can you say he didn't do anything to the body, google the crime, or look up any text on the subject and you will see extensive mutilation. Please you do your research before you post a ridiculous comment
no no no you miss understood my words, what he did to the body was right but wrong order, first person he killed he did nothing to, the mroe he killed the more deadly his murders were, he did more and more eachtime.
People have been trying to solve the identity of Jack the ripper for 112 years, some have been delving into it so long they call them selve ripperologists. So what makes this woman think she can step in and solve it now???????
I think it's funny how so many people come up with Ripper suspects who are already famous in their own right. Some of these people would never think in a million years that the Ripper may have actually been a nobody whose name they have never heard.
Jack the ripper could have been a syphilitic sailor for all we know, that could explain the disappearance... but then again, who really knows? really? really really?
I think he's just sensationally queer (literally and figuratively) and is too flamboyant a character to have been a secretive butcher in Victorian London.
He was not a discreet personality, he kept suspicious company that had him on watch and his cadence and appearance were distinct as a foreigner in Britain.
If he did do it then shame on the authorities for missing out on Captain Obvious, eh?
i think theres a lot of things that make me suspicous about tumbelty like the fact that he kept womens organs and that he hated women because when he was young he found out that his wife was a prostitute as well as when he died he was found with two similar rings that the ripper took from his first victim.
So did he become a homosexual out of his hatred for women later in life or did he cheat on her with men prior? It makes a difference in his psychological profile.
I've almost finished her book. The more I read, the more I think Sickert was the Ripper. His personality, lifesyle, artwork etc. all fit perfectly for him to be the Ripper. He was a twisted Psycho but a damned smart one. He knew 4-5 languages, kept secret hideouts in Whitechapel, wandered all night till dawn after sex shows, was good at makeup, painted the killings, was obsessed with throat cutting, dismemberment, etc. probably wrote most of the Ripper letters. This guy is a textbook case.
each documentry i watch, books i read seem to convince me about the person they are concentrating on i have just watched one about francis tumblety being the ripper, one before that about james maybrick being the ripper this one will probably convince me to.
i think we romanticize and give the ripper too much credit, i doubt he was an eccentric and cultured man, London was full of sexual deviants, hell, Sickert's lifestyle is on par with half of modern Hollywood; I think it is more likely the murderer was a diseased maniac of a local flavor, a pauper, a lower classman himself, and not aristocratic or nobility or even artsy.
@Speegs23 several of the examiners at the time of the murders stated on record that the organs were removed by someone who had a thorough knowledge of human anatomy. The fact alone that he removed the very organs that made them women, denotes his hatred either for women themselves or blaming them for some inadequecy he himself has...i.e. Syphillis. At the time it was incurable...you got it, more often than not, you died.Maybe he was "taking as many with him as possable".
@Tinyoak2 Yep, in fact, there's one view that says that it was the Queen's surgeon, and that he killed the prostitutes because one of her sons, a Prince who "frequented" the White Chapel area for "entertainment", you might say, got one of them pregnant, and that child, therefore, would have been heir to the throne. Something unthinkable in Victorian society, especially among royalty. : o
@HogRebel Isn't the new evidence pointing to American "surgeon" Francis Tumblety. Who when he died was found with the alleged cheap fake gold rings of Mary Kelly. Also.. he was a woman hater who collected uterus's. They tried to extradite him...
@Speegs23 I dont think Jack was a doss house pauper. Organised serial murder would suggest good physical health, free time and a measure of disposable income, but Impoverishment of that kind an 'East ended pauper might recognize would have been a constant battle to feed and protect yourself against illness.
@Speegs23 So artists aren't sadistic? Creative and aristocratic people can be social deviants too. It is a great mistake to think that social standing equals normalcy. Assholes don't just come from the "lower" class. This is a very ignorant comment. I'm convinced that Tom Cruise is really the Green River Killer ... Ha, Ha ...
Blndrfist, if I may reply - As for PC doing "other cases", as I had mentioned - Patricia Cornwell, before turning her hand to writing novels, worked within the Justice System as a Crime reporter, worked the Investigation of crime scenes/cases, and at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner of Virginia. She also worked with the Richmond Police Dept. So, therefore, yes, PC has had experience in Criminal investigation, Criminal techniques, FBI and Police procedures, thus, on "other cases".
The bottom line is, most of us sane people take our hats off to Pat C. for bringing us closer to the truth. Did she close the case? Of course not. But unlike Blndrfist and other big mouth blowhards, she put her money where her mouth is and did as much as any one can do to find out the truth where ever that leads. Maybe Blndrfist is related to Sickert, and that's why he can't accept simple facts. One Ripper letter was drawn with a paint brush, one had latin in it, WS was fluent in latin.
I love how she bought the Lizard guestbook...all those corrections and drawings made by the 'vandal' I think she called him...i like the old film footage at the end of the documentary..he is a creepy looking old man...and there were alot of latin connections..the Mr. Nemo, Mr. Nobody thing and Mathmawhatchamucallit..I'm not going to look that up just to spell it right..
I see that you have now removed your posts accusing me of sending you private messages when, in fact, I did not. Why not do the right thing and just admit to everyone here that you made it up? Or do you wish to persist in your lie?
In what way did she bring us "closer to the truth"? The only possible way that I can see she did so was by doing a good job of ruling out Sickert as a suspect. Please keep your straw men to yourself. Meanwhile, how many people do you think could write with a paint brush or speak latin? It's just absurd and I see that you too are a victim of pop culture stupidity. Solving a case is about probability, not possibility. Anything has a limited margin of possibility.
If you wish to discuss the subject matter of the videos that's great, especially if you can keep insults out of it.
However, your discussion is now personal and not relevant to the videos. So please, if you wish to, continue to do this then do so elsewhere and not here.
You are right and I am so sorry for letting myself get caught up in negativity..I am so happy you posted this special..I taped some but missed the end..I think Patricia is awesome..very interesting stuff and although we can never be 100% sure of anything I still find this the most interesting argument for a suspect...
Wow, what do you know? I'm still here! How can that be if I've sent you all these supposed hateful emails as you claim? The answer is because you're a common, average liar. I've never sent you an "email" or personal message of any kind. People like you (blinded, pop culture influenced dolts) always cry about "negativity" when someont points out obvious bullshit. You also cry about "harrassment" etc when, in fact, you are the one who began in the insult string; you're a clown.
Take this paragraph, in it you describe how people are hateful and nazis for daring to question your pop culture idol. Please do post my supposed private messages. Let's see them. Or are you a little worried because they don't exist and you're nothing more than a petty liar?
Hey look at this! I'm still here desipte Terilamour's allegations to youtube that I'm a stalker. How can that be? Maybe because I've never sent you a single personal message ever and do not intend to? I know that you are very desperate for attention, but I'm not interested. It is also hysterical that you removed all your posts; I laughed and laughed. Anyway, what we've learned about you is that, in addition to housewife trailer park trash, you are also a liar.
Dude you're being rediculous. Taking a photo takes the push of a button, painting a portrait could take days or weeks. I don't think you read her book or you wouldn't be making these silly statements. I've read the book and seen the comparisons of his writing and doodles, to some of the ripper letters. It certainly does match. The comment "thought to be spoofs" that's pure speculation. I don't know why I'm wasting my time, your mind is made up and can't be reasoned with.
There are many photographic artists in the world; they would take issue with your facile analysis of photographic art. I read her book and had a good laugh. The analysis of the doodles from the guest registry at the hotel does not indicate a clear match despite your eyeball conclusion. Whether the letters are spoofs is a question of likelyhood; it is not a question of speculation as the analysis has been done too; in many places. Know your subject before you spout off like a loon.
She is a forensic investigator but in this case there is a lack of substantial forensic evidence .

Patricia Cornwell is BRILLIANT!!! An incredibly smart woman & author & I could NOT put her non-fiction book down about Jack the Ripper. Everything in it made sense. I couldn't refute it, nor would I. Her novels are brilliant as well.
vickiehill1 1 year ago
Really, she should have written a novel about Scarpetta investigating the Ripper murders instead. That's something she could do adequately, while she truly sucks at real research & investigation. It's like deciding the result first and then conducting the research in a manner that will fit that result.
Stripedbottom 1 year ago
It doesn't require much time and intuition to say that the ripper was a freemasonry member controlled by aristocratics. Crimes were circoscripted into a limited time period and ended, rituals involved, no trace of killer, like in Florence monster crimes in the 70's. The real killer was society and moral costumes at that time.

Well done! I really do think someone has cracked it. It seems to me most deny it just 'cause they don't like the idea of an American besting a Brit.

Why do we have to know about how much money this "writer" made and how much more privileged she is than the "average" person? Don't "average" people dream to have more? @volpe3fuego
I did actually put in the description that you learn more about Patricia Cornwell than what she reveals in her book about her search for JtR.
The book is a better source of material for her rsearch and findings, whether you agree with her findings or not.
langsense 1 year ago
@volpe3fuego I agree with you as well as with certain other dectractors, ShannaMyers included, that something is wrong here. I don't beleive a word of Patricia"s "Ripper". She's got a lot a bucks to make, another million, and that's all. it's James Mabrick, the real Ripper, stay tuned.

It actually cost PC about 6 million dollars of her own money to do the research. So I don't think profit was her motive.

I think Cornwells commitment to this thing is commendable. Its pretty certain that Sickert penned the Openshaw letter in my mind, and thats a greater contribution to ripperology in real terms, than one hundred bullshit Doctor theories.
Garcon424 1 year ago
Its not Sickert there is stong evidence he wasn't even in England for some of the murders. In addition he was a married man, with children, who has a string of affairs and bastard children. He does seem do have had an obsession with murderers though - he had some interest in Dr Crippen. I think what PC has demonstrasted is that Sickert probably wrote some of the hoax letter the Yard recieved.
d1bx4pp 1 year ago
I believe Jack the ripper was not only one person, if you love at some of the victims some have clean cuts, and organs removed as if it was done by a sugeon and some look hacked up like a butcher, and I have read a few letters and the content and grammer change as more victims occured. I think that some one took his name and started going on his own killing spree.

Nightwithe 1 year ago
The Ripper wasn't a cultured man like Sickert or even a member of the Royale family, but rather, he was probably a poor person that did this to sell body parts. Body parts were big business back then and prostitutes were, and have always been, accessible victims. The letters were from some sick pathetic person that wanted the attention. People made money from books and such proclaiming they know who he was...

In spite of financial success, that person likely continues to work. tumbelty is another good one
ggggman16762 2 years ago
I think he's just sensationally queer (literally and figuratively) and is too flamboyant a character to have been a secretive butcher in Victorian London.
He was not a discreet personality, he kept suspicious company that had him on watch and his cadence and appearance were distinct as a foreigner in Britain.
If he did do it then shame on the authorities for missing out on Captain Obvious, eh?
Speegs23 2 years ago
i think theres a lot of things that make me suspicous about tumbelty like the fact that he kept womens organs and that he hated women because when he was young he found out that his wife was a prostitute as well as when he died he was found with two similar rings that the ripper took from his first victim.
ggggman16762 2 years ago 2

I've almost finished her book. The more I read, the more I think Sickert was the Ripper. His personality, lifesyle, artwork etc. all fit perfectly for him to be the Ripper. He was a twisted Psycho but a damned smart one. He knew 4-5 languages, kept secret hideouts in Whitechapel, wandered all night till dawn after sex shows, was good at makeup, painted the killings, was obsessed with throat cutting, dismemberment, etc. probably wrote most of the Ripper letters. This guy is a textbook case.

GhostGall123 2 years ago
i think we romanticize and give the ripper too much credit, i doubt he was an eccentric and cultured man, London was full of sexual deviants, hell, Sickert's lifestyle is on par with half of modern Hollywood; I think it is more likely the murderer was a diseased maniac of a local flavor, a pauper, a lower classman himself, and not aristocratic or nobility or even artsy.
Just a butcher.
Speegs23 2 years ago 13
@Speegs23 several of the examiners at the time of the murders stated on record that the organs were removed by someone who had a thorough knowledge of human anatomy. The fact alone that he removed the very organs that made them women, denotes his hatred either for women themselves or blaming them for some inadequecy he himself has...i.e. Syphillis. At the time it was incurable...you got it, more often than not, you died.Maybe he was "taking as many with him as possable".
Tinyoak2 1 year ago
@Tinyoak2 Yep, in fact, there's one view that says that it was the Queen's surgeon, and that he killed the prostitutes because one of her sons, a Prince who "frequented" the White Chapel area for "entertainment", you might say, got one of them pregnant, and that child, therefore, would have been heir to the throne. Something unthinkable in Victorian society, especially among royalty. : o

I don't know why I'm wasting my time, your mind is made up and can't be reasoned with.
sargoth37 2 years ago 8
There are many photographic artists in the world; they would take issue with your facile analysis of photographic art. I read her book and had a good laugh. The analysis of the doodles from the guest registry at the hotel does not indicate a clear match despite your eyeball conclusion. Whether the letters are spoofs is a question of likelyhood; it is not a question of speculation as the analysis has been done too; in many places. Know your subject before you spout off like a loon.
