Awe man, this is so cheesy. If it wasn't for the guy sitting there trying to act like he's into it and grooving it wouldn't be so bad. The concept is a good one, just listen to Pat Metheny's solo guitar/synth stuff and you'll see that it can be done creatively. But man alive, that guy standing there like that just kills the whole thing. If I were him I'd want to have that taken down pronto. I hope they paid him well.

@liveweyer Well, one alternative would be to use a fuzz pedal (which distorts signals into a near-square waveform) and then use a filter (wah or envelope follower, or any other filter effect) in order to make the sound less harsh.

Or you could just use something like this and use the MIDI signal to control a synth on a square setting.

@zenocomplex fuzz can be such a harsh effect i usually try not to combine it with much else but a flanger, but that's a really great idea. And yeah after watching this i found a patch list and this has several settings based on square leads. Now all i need is some cash...

I believe this film is doctored. The guy in the film makes it look like it's very easy to use, however this isn't true. To get the best out of this machine, you have to play very, very carefully indeed, as the slightest vibration from a neighbouring string will be picked up by the unit and converted into all sorts of random noises . It's true to say that some of the sounds work better than others however, especially the glockenspiel.
