  • And tho I'm not a huge OCC fan they build bikes for the same purpose most of the time...the NY jets, snapon and huge corporations that pay OCC don't want a bike that is practical when they come to OCC or antithetical.custom shop...they want a bike that is designed to look good lol if they wanted a practical bike they'd buy one lol they will build practical bikes if that's what a customer wants lol and they make production bikes for that purpose...and also most ppl that can afford a ground up

  • I can't believe people see this bike wich is a superb show of craftmanship, fabrication, design, imagination ect. Ect....and you hate on the tranny lol first build one yourself b4 you hate...and correct me if I'm wrong but most custom builds by fabricators that aren't for a private party aren't intended to be practical lol there intent is to show there fabrication, design, mechanical skills Ect. Ect.

  • 14.31 @ 91.6

  • awesome sound!!

  • Do these use a variable clutch like a snomobile?

  • I know nothing about rotary engines and their efficiency, but I'm surprised he made it to the end without running out of fuel after looking at the size of the fuel tank. Too cool though. Gorgeous bike.

  • @PX213

It's not a rotary, but a radial: on a rotary, the cylinder turns (like the French "Gnome","Clerget" or "Le Rhone" ww1 aircraft engines). The consumption from this Rotec 2800 radial is ~18liters/hour on a aircraft...

  • @PX213

LOL, I was thinking the same thing! :-)

  • JRL > Harley

  • Mr Negative (beeroosterm) so wheres your custom built ride so we can judge you handy work ?

  • sounds like a plane! awesome!

  • Beautiful thing to do with a bike. Man, those engines are loud!

  • That sounds awesome!

  • Sounds great. I'd like one of those in my Flymo!

. Ok,maybe not. I do actually like my neighbours.

  • That, my friend, is one badass bike, and radial engines rock in anything, as anybody knows a Harley engine is just two cylinders of a radial engine in the master/link rod setup......

  • Hard to see on the video on freeze frame but it looks like 14.??? at 91 mph.

  • @falcon1163 that time does not surprise me

  • interesting =], i see seven pipes, i think you could get more power with a good manifold, equalizing back pressure

  • wwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooowwwwwwwwwwwwwww i want one

  • sounds nice

  • Just SICK!!! (awesome)

  • @bsatom I think hes either sliding it to keep from lifting the front, OR, the engine makes so much torque that the clutch cant handle it. It also sounds like a single speed tranny..... no gearshifts, so he must have a pretty tall final gear ratio

  • I think thats one of the coolest unconventional ways to power a bike that I've seen, congratulations.

  • 14.71 at 91.7

  • sounds cool...but its slower than a gold-wing...get someone crazy to ride it,theres no way thats as fast as it can go

  • ok so wait? two gears only?

    ha jk.

how fast does it really go then if this was only part throttle??

i want to see what this thing can do!

  • What kind of torque do you get from this engine?

  • 14??????? its like having a solid gold watch that sort of keeps acurate time. sounds like it needs gearing

  • Not too fast really. Sturgis is an 1/8th mile strip.

  • REALLY WEAK!!!!! I mean you should have gone with the Pratt and Whitney Wasp Major the R-4360-51 VDT variant. ROFL

  • what kind of gyroscopic effects does it have on the road?

  • @thruthefennce....good question. how is turning?

  • I think the Verdel was the first motorcycle to use a radial engine. It was a 5 cylinder with 750cc.

  • that is most bodacious!

  • if you look hard enough it says somthing like 14.XX and like 91.XX i think

  • @beeroosterm nice comment,I can tell youre a person of intellect and higher education, good luck

  • @almighty93 It appears its all it needs. ( regarding the 1 gear and clutch comment) i mean, why add things if it does not need them

  • @almighty93 This beeroosterm idiot made a similar ill-informed comment on the video of starting up the radial bike in the garage too. I think this boy is just a habitual bitch.

  • @tripleJ1955 My comments stand. It's a bike that's waiting for a transmission. Until then, it's an Orange County Chopper: completely impractical.

  • @beeroosterm Sounds right !!!

  • @almighty93 I was attempting (in a fairly clumsy way) to express my disappointment with a slipping clutch and one gear. It desperately needs a multi-speed transmission to take advantage of all the available torque from this engine. At only 110 hp from 2.8 liters of displacement but with massive torque, it's sorely in need of a way to get that torque (still cannot locate a value in the published literature) to the ground. Get a fucking tranny...

  • @beeroosterm maybe if you buy him a 6 speed tranny he will put it in... but most likely you wont because you appear to like to bitch about the lack of a tranny on his bike.

  • @94diesel JRL themselves say there is a 6-speed option - but I've not seen any videos that document this. Get your facts straight, sonny...

  • Comment removed

  • @beeroosterm dude u need a hug?

  • @beeroosterm Yes, a hug. But it's still an engine looking for a tranny. The builder says there is a 6-speed available, but I've not seen any videos with one. As a matter of fact, there aren't any good videos of one of these on the street. Given the "look at me" nature of these things, I'd say the dearth of video indicates they aren't properly sorted out. It's not like they're all-powerful: only 110 hp @ 3600 out of 172 cubic inches. Torque math comes out to 158 lb/ft at that rpm, though...

  • does it have no gears??

i don't hear him changing gears.

  • Could someone please post the ET and speed?

  • @Gregusan Sorry, thats confidential, however the run was an exibition run at part throtle,

  • @almighty93 how about u tellthe man what he wants to know or ill build a better bike than yours make a video just like this and tell him >=D and yes i just happen to have a engine like this on laying around =P

  • @almighty93 Confidential!? UR kidding right?

  • @almighty93 You don't post the time because it is too embarrassing to do so. I give great credit to the builders of this bike, but really, its potential is lost because of the one speed tranny. This thing is crying out for a multi-speed transmission. And stop hiding relevant comments, pussy.

  • @almighty93 CONFIDENTIAL?????? I think i'm going to use that the next time I go to the track and turn a shitty ET...... Only one reason to keep an ET and trap speed "confidential"!

  • @almighty93 Confidental is one way to say "I ran shitty ET"

  • @Gregusan 14.07 at 91 i could barely make it oout

  • @Gregusan It ran a "holy crap" @ "woosh"

  • @Gregusan Looks like 14 sec at 91 mph

  • that started out here in Australia as an engine for radio controlled model aircraft, then they built them for full size planes, around 200hp i think.

  • yes thats correct, the engine is built by Rotec in Australia

  • @almighty93

Yes but the power is 110hp, not 200...

  • there are only two gears on this bike. the whole thing was done in second.

  • Youre partialy correct, yes it was only second gear that the bike ran in, however it has a commercaly avalible six speed trans

  • @almighty93 Then why don't you install the 6-speed and post some videos of the bike in action? You haven't posted shit - it's all idling and pimp drive-bys in addition to the super lame drag run. You spend all this time and money acquiring the engine and engineering the damned thing; you have a website and have posted videos. What's the problem? At this point there can be only one conclusion: you have no functional bikes with the 6-speed. OCC all the way. Too bad - it is a sick concept...

  • @beeroosterm ... OCC's are production built pcs of junk, I'll take my Harley any day.

  • @tazztt1 lol what? you don't think a Harley is a productions bike? they all are anymore unless you get some doityourselfer bike

  • @turtlemann14 ... typical of a hater, you troll... I referenced OCC bikes when JUNK came to mind... I'll take my Harley, thank you.

  • @turtlemann14 yea, i am not a troll. i was simple stating that a Harley is a production bike just like all of the rest

  • looks like a 12.74 sec et. Pretty good for a one speed trans

  • well what was the time?

  • cvt mostlikely

  • one gear?

  • Hell of a bike! What time did he do?

  • Looks like a pipe organ with wheels and it sounds like music to my ears.

  • Beautiful sound.

  • Funny thing how this beauty is a BEAST. Radials are sweet, now it's time to see a R2800 wasp on a motorcycle. theres just got to be a way.

  • Wasp engine would be a problem since there are 4 rows of cylinders... It's a very big engine and it would be difficult to fit it into a bike. Correct me if I'm wrong.

  • they put v-8 and v-12 in motorcycles they call them boss hoss i think it could be done someone one day will try it

  • Boss Hoss....Dyersburg, TN......Rocks

Monty sure knows how to build a bike

  • Thats the wasp major, as in the ONLY wasp radial in the family to have four rows.

  • especially since it would weigh like 10,000 lbs.

  • Excellent Craftsmanship!

  • What is it one speed?

  • No it has a brake

  • your reply is useless lol

  • Lol, yes it was

  • Way cool - ex engine mechanic here and rider as well. I keep an old R3350 master rod on my desk as a reminder of the old days.

    Dog

  • Love it. Obviously the word "can't" isn't in your dictionary. Keep up the good work.

  • As an Airplane mechanic I love Radials and motorcycles (the latter is an unwritten law almost). And the combination of the two is near heavenly.

  • We appreciate your comments. In complete agreement with you on being the perfect melt-mc and airplane.Check ot the Jrl website. We are currently working on 3 more which should be in Daytona this upcoming March. Jrl is also in construction of the 1st of the next generation-9 cylinder motors as opposed to the 1st 7-which are 7 cylinder.

  • Looks and sounds GREAT ... good Video

  • Glad you videotaped this rare run Almighty.
