Not trying to start an argument, but some kid in my town got a new 2012 genesis 2.0T and thinks its the fastest thing in the world. He thinks itll not only beat my modded Mach 1, but hurt its feelings! I think I read somewhere that the Genesis could do 15.2 at 90MPH. That's not bad but my stock 97 GT did a 14.7 in 100 degree weather. Just sharing a story, not trying to piss anyone off. BTW the kid went from driving an AT Scion TC to a 6 speed turbo car. Of course he thinks its fast haha.
@MrMach1driver I completely agree with you on this one. The 2.0T stock or near stock really isn't that quick, it's just ok IMO. Heck, my bone stock 11' 3.7 mustang with a 6spd slushbox will seriously put the hurt on my genesis, but I like both so it's cool.
@SLeRoux92 I had a 2002 v6 sonata DOHC. That car was rock solid but i sold not to long ago, upgraded to a genesis 3.8 track. It had 175k on it and was still going strong, though i guess i just took good care of mine.
@dan0moley I launched the car at around 2000 rpm, which is why I didn't get any loss of traction off the line. I did get a little tire chirp from 1st to 2nd, but not enough to hear over the sound of the engine.
@davidpaulin oh really? I didn't realize getting up to highway speed quickly means nothing. I guess 1/8 mile runs mean nothing as well? It's a testament of great engine torque and traction to have a quick 1/8 mile. Heck, my stock 6000 pound 2011 F150 3.5 v6 TT does a 1/8 mile 9.5 sec @ 86.6 mph. Also, it only takes me 330 feet to get to 60 mph (under 6 seconds). Please explain to me how 0-60 means nothing. I am quite intrigued.
@ashtrey05 they clocked the new GTI (with dsg) under 5secs for 0-60.. that's a quick 0-60 but past that point the fun is gone and a lot of stock cars actually having less power will be able to spank it ..
@davidpaulin my (sold now) 2005 f150 would do it in 5.3 seconds, but making a 6000 pound truck do that required TONS of fuel! I've only run this new truck once and it did the 1/4 mile in 14.69 sec @ 94.7 mph. Not too bad.
@davidpaulin They closed the 1/4 track here. The closest one is over 4 hours away. I want to though. My buddy has a little s2000 4 banger and it can do 174! I know what you mean.
@McLovin1989189 I was simply answering a question, stop crying. And I don't think that my $50K truck is a POS, unsurpassed capability, ruggedness, comfort, and longevity. BTW, my name isn't Jesus Christ, so I assume you were using His name in vain just then... not cool.
@Jlizel Where the fuck did you get 4,000lbs? It's not a Buick. It's a quick little car, unfortunately though, it still has a real narrow powerband requiring a ton of shifts on the way to 120 apparently...that's what I like about hi-po V6s, nice linear torque all the way to 60.....powerful, yet relaxed...
not fast...
