  • why would you do this????

  • You make me want to do this! And I LOVE this music!

  • you are my hero...I apologize in advance for my being starstruck if we ever meet.

  • well done..

  • nice..

  • So totally unique and other brain thinking! Show us more.

  • wicked!

  • whats the name of that crazy japanese song?

  • You've to Let it Grow by Lullatone. I collaborated with them on it and you can download it from my website if you go to work and then video

  • i have neer seen that before, would be fun to try!

  • Very fun and less laundry! I often teach workshops in dry throwing, so if you go to my website, you can see upcoming workshops

  • super!

  • Um, thanks! I actually do have my own studio, complete with a dog and Japanese music that starts when I turn on the wheel.

  • You can play on my team

  • Ayumi, what do you do with all of your trimmings? I have tried so hard to not have a lot of clay in my bucket 9I hate, hate, hate rendering that mess without a pugmill). Agian...brilliant method.

  • If the trimmings are spritzed down and wedged back up immediately, it's no problem.

  • Ayumi. We are enjoying using our handmade pottery from you. We love the earthenware cups. Handmade pots make life so much better, I think they make my food taste better. Thanks for the great pottery video. Karma says she wants to be in a pottery video now.

  • Thanks Ron, send in a demo video with some clay scraps on her head and I'll see what I can do

  • This is great! It shows other potters an unusual technique they might want to try, and shows non-potters how an object can be made in a way they might not have thought about before - very educational. Love the dog cameo too!

  • i like your dog!

  • He's made me who I am today and note the special look in his eyes.

  • I am not really sure what the point of this is.

  • it's really that confusing?

  • When measured against traditional throwing techniques, it is confusing as to why one would do this. This is not a negative comment BTW.

  • It's a good question Randall. I developed it as an alternative to wet throwing, because wet throwing was giving me such bad tendonitis. Now I tend to mix up my processes from day to day so that theyre less repetitive for the sake of my body. I also loved trimming so much, I figured out a way to create work this way, not just finish a pot this way.

  • I love the way moist clay records fingerprints and rib marks, I love the stretch marks and muted marks from the way in which the clay gets pushed out from the inside. Aesthetically, I love the inherent uncontrollability of the process, which makes the throwing a bit uneven and looser. Lastly, I can work more quickly because the pot dries more quickly, plus I can manipulate the clay immediately, like when I fold down a flap handle on a dish right after its thrown.

  • Ayumi, I had heard about your technique but didn't know you developed it yourself. I have always been a HUGE fan of your work but now I am in awe....you are amazing!

  • Totally mesmerizing...I might need to watch this whenever I get stressed out!

Additionally...I want to buy the song! Tell them to put it on iTunes!

  • Freaking Brilliant!!! - I'm a fan.

  • daisuki !

  • Pancho!

  • Don´'t know what I like the best - the technique you've invented, or the beautiful synch of video and music.

    Either way I love it!

  • OMG I have never tried that. I always plenty of water. This way is much less messy. LOL

  • Wow this is great! You did a great job of capturing the method on video. Also I love the music, great job Lullatone folks!

  • Great song! Glad it worked out.
