the fact that you keep saying "film" drives me nuts. you shot this with video...this is a tutorial for non linear editing software...you didn't use film.

i don't mean to sound rude or trollish, i just hate hearing youtube users refer to their work as film when it's clearly not.

Just film the background first, take a snap shot of it and put it under the track where you're blasting the hole, and then use cookie cutter.

Set it to negative on masking

and make sure the background pic is below

you have to make sure you have your timelines set up correctly.

Top timeline us you with the hole cut in

bottom timeline is the background (without you in it) this is what shows through the hole...hope that helps :)

Its easy, take a picture of the scene where the character is not there, and mask it.
