Great video, makes me want to play now. I bought this more than a year ago but haven't played it yet (was rather daunted by the rules). I used to play A&A, Conquest of the Roman Empire and Shogun quite religiously. I also owned and played Broad Sides and Boarding Parties plus Fortress America.

Am currently playing a campaign with a friend on Battle Cry. Tide of Iron will be my next conquest after our BC campaign. The rules will make for some good summer reading, lol.

XD agomongo i had to set up a game for 1 hour before **cough** War of the Ring **cough**. Also? why dont you try a smaller mission? it shouldn't be that hard to make up a basic mission using only 2 of the boards. Hell i took a copy of Band of Brothers and created a mission off just watching the movie :D

now i am a harcore rts guy but tis game is unesscesary i hav it 30 min to set up if youre 12 then 1to 2 weeks to fin book or 3 days depends how fast u read hard to find a person wit 2-3 hours and knows how to play and is able to learn fast if u lose manual then ur screwed u cant get another unless u can som how find one amazon dont hav and ebay

Don't get me wrong, this looks like a FANTASTIC game... but the problem with these kinds of games is FINDING THE TIME AND PEOPLE TO PLAY WITH....not everybody has partners willing to play a 2-hour game with a 15-30 min setup time... I wish I had...

im with you there, thats why we like to play memoir 44' . its not as in depth as something like this , but plays quickly and has the right amount of strategy and luck IMO

Great game and with two expansions and a great scenario book now is the time to get in on it. One of my favorites.

This is an excellent introduction to this brilliant game. It's very much like the wargaming in 3D where they use a ruler for distance and model buildings, whereas this uses tiles and flat hexes with buildings etc. End result is the same, sheer enjoyment. Well done Fantasy Flight, and if anyone is thinking of whether to buy it or not, Don't hessitate, it's brilliant.

I played it tonight with a couple of mates. Great game, except is extremely complicated. Expect to be sitting down and setting up/figuring out the rules for at least an hour or two before you can even think about playing.

People have got to stop comparing this game to Memoir. It serves a different purpose entirely. Increased realism, more epic scenario's. More control. Besides the standard wargame model is in both of these games in some way Borg wasn't doing anything new in Memoir, hadn't he already made Memoir twice before anyway? TOI has it's innovations and it's card use is completely different. They are sometimes not used at all.

lol, yes, it does. If your looking out of the corner of your eye or viewing it briefly for the 1st time, you mind interprets a swastika. Bad color choice unless they wanted that subliminal insert to occur. Scarey.

I bought the game on an impulse as I wanted to explore getting back into miniature wargaming. Played two games so far. Overall im pleased and would reccommend it.

Shame about the models though. All my tanks have curved elephants trunks rather than straight barrels and there are a lot of casting flaws on my infantary where the plastic hasnt been trimmed correctly. Also the legs of the single figures buckle easily when you push them into the bases.

you can easily fix the bent barrles of guns easily by dipping in boiling water for 2-4 seconds then holding in shape for around 10-20 seconds. hope that helps.
