P3B, Man--who pissed in your Wheaties? Maybe the SEALS took the EOD helmets away from them, right after they finished fooling around with your sister.
Are you a P-3 aviator? If so, one thing we found interesting about this video was that the NATOPS procedure was to "grab the sides of the aircraft and then bail out". The first 2 Seals did that and bounced down the side of the plane (even with the inboard engine feathered and flying at almost stall speed). The next 2 Seals were smarter and took a running jump...
Wow. Awesome video. I've heard rumors and stories of SEALs having jumped from a P-3 before but I didn't think they were true. This is probably the most unique and interesting P-3 video I've seen yet. I'll have to pass this around the shop.
We had the inboard #2 engine turned off, and were flying as slow as we could (about 160 knots I think, it has been a LONG time...). This plane was not designed to be dropping parachutists, but rather bombs, mines, and torpedoes.. I remember writing up the after-action ("purple") report on this which was used in making some suggested modifications to the Emergency Procedures for bailout based on what we saw here.... former LT Frye
Orion airspeed too high for static line deployment. Need to drop flaps 20 degrees, get down to about 100 knots max. No reason that the jumpers would be grazing the fuselage. Also, the Orion probably has a profile not condusive for this. The laminar air flow along the aft end of the ship is keeping those jumpers from being able to separate out from it. Hence the running stat success.
As for the Taiwanese... those ingrates. They are supposed to be our allies!
@tmallow2004 technically, when the US started to recognize the 'One-China Policy', the Taiwanese stopped being so nice to us... with good reason, too. Great video nonetheless! Always love seeing Aviation-related stuff on my homepage!

That's what I'm fucking talking about! An Orion mission at it's finest! I bet you those SEALs were trying to touch the vertical stabilizer!
