@Iluvrocket yes. This is considered a melody. The melody is called the "head" when played in jazz. It is generally played twice and improvised solos follow. The head is then, generally, repeated twice again. Of course, many jazz players stray from this bare formula by adding intros, outros, and other stuff :D

Well, it fits in pretty well with the title of the show: this is bebop jazz. Try artists like Charlie Parker and early John Coltrane. To be fair, though, this has a more modern bent in composition structure, so I'm not certain about modern groups who play with this style often.
