I can taste the salt and feel the sunlight on my face as the seagulls fly above...I'm getting my sheet music (piano) out of the bench and hope to practice this one more often.
WHAT A GREAT SINGER - MET HIM IN SYDNEY AUSTRALIA WHERE HE WAS SINGING AT THE NIGHTCLUB I WAS WORKING AND SAT WITH HIM MANY A NIGHT IN BETWEEN SHOWS HAVING A DRINK. EVEN HAVE HIS AUTOGRAPHED PHOTO HE GAVE ME. GREAT PERSON AND GREAT PERSONALITY. WHAT GOOD MEMORIES I HAVE OF THESE DAYS.
I feel old now - I met him in Toronto at the Kiki Rouge in Yorkville that was the old hang out. Fantastic Person as well as musician. Jack Palance was there the same night he was in Toronto Filming Jeckle and Hyde. Double Whammie What a good memory I have from that evening.
Saw Earl Grant at the Copacabana as a lad where I often went with my mother. About 1964-65?? He had incredible energy. We were as usual, arms length from the performers.
YOU BOUGHT BACK SOME MEMORIES WHEN YOU MENTIONED THE COPACABANA - I WORKED THERE IN NEW YORK CITY WHEN I FIRST CAME TO THE U.S.A A FEW TIMES AS A CIGARETTE GIRL IN MY YOUNG DAYS - WAS ABOUT 25. THANKS FOR THE MEMORY - I LOVE NEW YORK CITY.
Makes me want to go grab that Leslie 720 and two 540's that were generously offered to me for a great deal. You just can't beat a great organ set-up! Earl sure could play with passion.
This goes back to my earliest memories. My father had this record and I played it over and over again! My uncle told me that earl had died and I couldent understand how o could still hear him play music if he was dead. Lol
I can't think of a better version of this song. This is one of MY favorites. It reminds me of all of the years I've spent on Long Beach Island, NJ and the Surf City Hotel when they had a beautiful organ in the middle of the bar. I was able to get the organist to play Ebb Tide.
From one of my favorite albums. The rendition of Exodus on this album...is just beyond. My Foolish Heart, Evening Rain, Misty, Canadian Sunset and others round out this classic album....and all are exquisite. The beginning and end of this song with the birds singing as the tide ebbs...no words...
Linda esta musica comprei o lp na epoca tenho até hoje , quase cinquenta anos do lançamento do Ebb Tide até hoje ouço e gosto. Lobo Jundiai Brasil.

People don't realize how fantastically stimulating it is to listen to Earl Grant play this instrumental!
If Chopin's Ravel's Bolero is a 10, Grant's Ebb Tide is 100!
Listen to it some night with your love...
You'll then understand what everything is all about
