My point to begin with is that projecting your issues is great, but living in reality and dealing with them is better.

Have a belief, by all means. But do what the bible says and keep it to yourself. Don't advertise it. If you do, I'll say it's crap, and why. Religious belief should be questioned more, not less. If it's 'the way', then it should stand up to this scrutiny a lot better than it actaully does.

The problem with checking out the bible, is that you need to be very specific in the parts you check out, otherwise god comes across as being quite petty and evil, and even jesus isn't above the occasional tantrum and threat. To get the 'god is love' or 'jesus is wonderful' message, you really do have to cherry-pick your passages and ignore many others.
