  • I was only 7 years old when Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee perished in the Apollo 1 fire on Pad 34...I think about them often and hope we are living to the ideals that the measured their lives by.

  • Fantastic!

  • It's nice to have this run long and with the audio. Even though it's beautiful when played in a documentary with background music, listening to their voices as he pushes off lends it that much more of a human element.

  • Why Americans would rather build bombs and guns, when they could build spacecraft just baffles me. It seems America is great at building spacecraft.

  • LOVE THIS !! Thank you for posting it !!!

  • I spend a lot of time on this channel biting my lip when I really wish to comment on a lot of what is said.

But this comment is the pits...

  • dont worry about it moonhoax2k91 (whats up with that?) probably talks to elvis presley at IHOP.

  • here come the wackos

  • You are a whackjob!!!

  • I bet Ed White would have commanded an Apollo lunar landing flight, perhaps even the first.

  • How about Grissom?

  • In 05:42 something from the ship get free and went out to space. A small object.

  • A 'thermal glove' as they mentioned in the recording.

  • The flight director says get back in

    Ok! that works

Uh, Ed the flight director wannts you to come back in

    Back in?

    Back in!

Rodger, we've been trying to talk to you for a while

    Comming in

That is the saddest moment of my life

  • I think they saw UFO's on this flight

  • Comment removed

  • The spaceman in this is also famous for Apollo. Ed White later burned up in the Apollo capsule.. He couldn't get the hatch open before he and Chaffee, Grissom caught fire and burned to death.

  • Btw Ed White died in Apollo 1 capsule and they didnt died because they burned but because of the lack of oxygen and toxic gas created by the fire. They were death by the time they burned.

    RIP Apollo 1

  • in other words, the suffocated

  • in other words, yes

  • What an awesome step forward for the space program. Ed White, a real hero!

  • That was Armstrong on the CAPCOM!!

  • @Andybucker No. That was Grissom.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY ED!

  • he looks like infant in side it mother womb hanging by a thin umbilical cord AWESOme.

HE SAID i FEEL LIKE A MILLION DOLLARS LOL

  • "Flight director says GET BACK IN!". He Huston sounded a little nervous tehe!

  • so beautiful.

i only wish i could have been alive to see this happen... or that white was still alive now, so i could thank him.

it's strange having a hero that died 17 years before i was born; but i stand firm in believing he is an amazing human being. dedicated, hard working, patriotic, and very grateful for his opportunities.

    love ya ed.

  • Space Rocks! These dudes are true heroes

White - yer all right! ;>

    Peace
