I was only 7 years old when Ed White, Gus Grissom and Roger Chaffee perished in the Apollo 1 fire on Pad 34...I think about them often and hope we are living to the ideals that the measured their lives by.
It's nice to have this run long and with the audio. Even though it's beautiful when played in a documentary with background music, listening to their voices as he pushes off lends it that much more of a human element.
The spaceman in this is also famous for Apollo. Ed White later burned up in the Apollo capsule.. He couldn't get the hatch open before he and Chaffee, Grissom caught fire and burned to death.
Btw Ed White died in Apollo 1 capsule and they didnt died because they burned but because of the lack of oxygen and toxic gas created by the fire. They were death by the time they burned.
i only wish i could have been alive to see this happen... or that white was still alive now, so i could thank him.
it's strange having a hero that died 17 years before i was born; but i stand firm in believing he is an amazing human being. dedicated, hard working, patriotic, and very grateful for his opportunities.

Why Americans would rather build bombs and guns, when they could build spacecraft just baffles me. It seems America is great at building spacecraft.
