  • At each second of the track you just wanna go like "FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK HOW DO THEY MAKE IT SO SMOOTH AND MYSTERIOUS"

Fuck Opeth -in a good way- They're literally THE BEST BAND CREATING THE BEST MUSIC ON EARTH <3

  • 2:23 That pretty much sums up Opeth

  • :o 9:39 left me hanging :(

  • 2:25.

  • 5:47. one of the best metal solos in the history!

  • Metalheads are soooooo easy to troll...

  • Man I love opeth's songs where the dude actually sings, not a big fan of the ones where they torture cookie monster in front of a microphone

  • O.K. Everyone just STOP! Shut Up and Listen!!! Who the HELL just compared Opeth to Static-X and Korn. What the phuck dude. Are You Serious? This guy should get beat!

  • @BigFukNMike You're kinda stupid. Music is music. It's different, for different people. And also, music - the most subjective thing in existence. I mean, yeah, Opeth is great, but it doesn't means that it good for everyone. As well as it doesn't makes you better than people who listens Korn and other staff just because you listen to Opeth. Grow up, kid.

  • 6 dislikes?... 6 people that need to die...

  • <3333333333333

  • This is the real, raw stuff, like Static-X's Wisconsin Death Trip and Korn's first album. Listen at the simple dual guitaring, the powerful lyrics and the demonic grunting. The whole album means the world to me.

  • best song

  • @IronI909 dude, there are videos on youtube that are more than 10 hours i dont think they disallowed u to put a 10 minute video.. go type in the search for "logest video on youtube" if u dont believe me :D cheers from egypt :D

  • Shortening an opeth song is like shortening your dick: there's no point.

  • Opeth...<3

  • this is the song that made me pick up a guitar

  • 3 times in a row i havent been able to the full song. damn you youtube!

  • I love you Opeth *_*

  • I love Opeth!

  • Opeth's sound seems to lack that edge somehow. BTW, its just my opinion.

  • Man that 2n scream at the beginning made me throw the horns!!!

    Hail for OPETH

  • Forest of octuuubaaaaaaaarrrrr ASO

  • When I'm afraid, I think of the part at 6:33 and scare the crap out of myself.

  • @hraesvelgML

I've got a little story about that part. I was on a short school travel and I was in the pullman...I fell asleep while listening to this song. Than,at 6:33 I awoke,It was almost night,or night already out of the windows, and I felt a little scared...I felt like If I was in another world. Yet,I loved it. It was like one of the first times I had listened to it,so that part surprised me a lot.

  • @StealerAG whats's so scary about it? its a pretty standard death/doom "riff"

  • @Shagthegoat

You're right, but first of all,I was new to metal, and I was new to Opeth.

Second of all,I fell asleep before of that part and that part awoke me. I was not expecting that =)

  • This is sick!

  • 1:17....he doesnt scream it...he LIVES it :D

as all of his songs...Opeth for religion !!!

  • I don't like how most Opeth fans react to them. Yes, they're good. They're not a deity. They're a group of guys who believed in what they wanted to do with their lives, and stuck with it. Hell, they were even able to separate their sound from most other bands. They're definitely on the map. Dedicated bunch with a lot going for them mentally.

Fans need to get a life. Ynow, like they did.

  • @CagedSuicide2112 So true bro I just listen to Opeth every now and then because the singer has a great growl but seriously.. You fans need to calm down these guys are just a bunch of everyday people. They're not to be worshipped lol they just started out with nothing and were dedicated to a dream, just like any of us can be. Theyre a great band, But i wouldnt listen to them on a regular basis because theyre music is written in a way that you lose interest in it after a while.

  • @RaininLuck : First of all, there is nothing wrong with being enthusiastic about great art. The reason people get passionate about Opeth is because they are exceptional musicians in a time where people seem to accept and reward mediocre music. They are not just ' a bunch of every day people'. Maybe if you cleaned the shit out of your ears you would see that their music isn't written in way that you lose interest. In fact it's the opposite.

  • @CagedSuicide2112 LOL DUDE When most opeth fans say that its an exaggeration/figure of speech! duh!

  • @CagedSuicide2112 "get a life"..?

I agreed with almost everything until the second-to-last sentence. Then you had to ruin it.

  • @CagedSuicide2112 haha yes..."Admiration is the furthest thing from understanding."

  • YEAH first opeth song i hear 2000 NAPSTER bitches.

  • 7:50 the most epic moment on the song

  • This is soooooooooooooooo beutiful!!

  • hahaha staind and creed add those toegether and u get justin bieber fuckin clown shoes

  • I never explored earlier Opeth as much...pure genius this here is.

  • @MikeLamb24

ok man you can listen to anything you want. But you CANNOT call this crap. even for people that don't like this music you can hear the talent in the way they play their instruments. there is hardly any talent in these "intelectual" bands you speak of. simple drum beats, even simpler guitar chords, hardly any good solos, if any! etc...

watever have a nice day man :(

  • @IronI909 I believe his post is called "sarcasm".

    Sarcasm?

    Saaarrr-caaaasmmm.

    Yes.

  • @SoulForce24

well you can take his post as watever you'd like but if he was being sarcastic then y would he have nickleback as his favorite band on his page?

    it wasnt saaaaarrrr-caaaaaaasmmmmmmm

(plz dont tell me u were also being sarcastic) lol

  • @IronI909

    ;)

  • @IronI909 I personally believe he's a troll :))

  • @IronI909 Its obviously a troll account targeted at metalheads. Notice how he specifically singled out Metallica's new stuff and Megadeth's Risk album as favorites, as opposed to the entire band. Not even an actual poser kid's taste could be that bad. Now chill out and enjoy your own song.

  • @IronI909 hahaha he was definitely kidding or just entirely out of his mind. not because he likes creed and stained (i do to actually) but because he called it intellectual music. no one in the right mind would call post grunge intellectual.

  • @IronI909 Watching the lot of you get trolled has been amusing. Also, if perception is subjective, then surely you can call Opeth (and this song by logical extension) crap. It's quite trite.

  • @IronI909 I think he´s being sarcastic. Creed are the most average and mediocre band I have ever listened to. Opeth are one of the best metal bands in the last years.

  • @IronI909

uhh i love opeth, but youre a retard if you think someone CANT have a completely different opinion about a song, especially such a polarizing genre like metal

  • @holyreality02 I think the only thing he's saying is you can't deny they have talent. Which they do, HUGE amounts of it. The different methods they use in their music are HARDLY used anymore. Syncopation, triplets, very complex time signatures, key changes incredibly often, very often going from a minor to a melodic minor, or harmonic minor. And they KNOW what they're doing, unlike many many many current artists who don't have any classical music training.

  • @IronI909 FUCKIN HELL YES!!!

  • @IronI909 well sometimes its not about talent its about creativity and atmosphere. because i listen to alot alot punk rock and raw black metal, and their isnt alot of talent involved. but that doesnt mean it isnt good music.... but Opeth has everything. talent, originality, progression, atmosphere.,,but yea bands dont have to have 100 solos in order to be good. Burzum doesnt have alot of solo's but varg vikernes is a genius.

  • @IronI909 I have not read the post you sir are responding to, but fuck! If someone did indeed comment Opeths work as "crap" - fuck them trully and sincerly. (sad stuff)

  • @IronI909 are you stupid or something:D?:D

  • @MikeLamb24

Oh yes, because ones intelligence is based off of their musical tastes, and we should all worship the ground that MikeLamb24 walks on

Admit it mate, your just a pretentious little git who thinks hes fucking great, when really, you couldn't be more far from the truth

  • @MikeLamb24

    Obvious troll is obvious.

  • @MikeLamb24 your an idiot. read the lyrics and read the other bands lyrics.by other bands i mean other heavy metal/death metal bands. you will see that you are wrong.

  • @MikeLamb24

    Lol, good bit of sarcasm.

  • @MikeLamb24

Music doesn't make you intellectual, thinking it does makes you a pretentious fuck.

It just makes you look like an idiot, really.

  • @MikeLamb24

    trolling WIN

  • @MikeLamb24 Creed is intellectual ? (ONE LAST BREATH lol)

  • @MikeLamb24 doesnt sound like youve become any more intelligent at all

  • @MikeLamb24 Dude, its opeth if you want to make fun of metal then make fun of like despised icon or something

  • @Stokatal lol i know the fuck

  • @MikeLamb24 Lol troll

  • @MikeLamb24 wow your dull... intellectual? stained and creed? they looks like monkeys next to opeth, opeth is so musicaly talented, intelectual, sophisticated you dont even know what your talking about

  • @MikeLamb24 Technically your a metal head if you listen to Staind because their part of metal so officially your a dumb ass.

  • @MikeLamb24 staind and creed? so in other words you are a born again bible thumping faggot?

  • Comment removed

  • @MikeLamb24 lawl.

  • @MikeLamb24 That legitimately made me laugh. What the hell?

  • @MikeLamb24 HHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAAHHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.... there are tons, and a mean TONS of undeground bands that makes Creed and Staind looks like a gran of sand in the middle of the universe.

  • @MikeLamb24 Ha! Moron. By "intellectual," you mean "terrible."

  • @amroihab

How did you do those hearts

  • Damn this is amazing... No Other bands even come close... In Flames is good I will say, but this is on a whole other lvl:) Sorry my bad english but just wanna say. This is awesome!!!!!:P

  • Opeth is my favorite group of progessive metal

  • such a legndary song\m/

  • Wow this song is amazing. I like opeth and I can't believe I missed this song. I wonder what else I been missing from them. I love the way they put their songs together. Very progressive

  • Anyone noticed that some riffs sound exactly like Black Rose Immortal?

  • @BlackSunSerenade solos in this one sound like others on album too..the more ive listened to this album...the less i like it...i still love it...and it showcases a monster that is in embroyonic stages...and that makes it an important release...that being said i still like my arms and blackwater park best..i first heard this in 97 or 98

  • @arkee71 This is my favorite Opeth album, I like them all, but the only reason most people like Blackwater park is because they had a shitload of money to advertise it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not one of those "not metal" enough Opeth guys, my next favorite is Damnation. That one got me through some hard times. I just thought Blackwater park was underwritten and over produced as well as repetitive.

  • @fatguyaaron well my favorite opeth by far is and always will be morningrise...i didnt even buy blackwater park ...so it wasnt because of ads that i like it...i like it because their sound gets very proggy on that one...besides that...i would argue that ghost reveries is their most commercial to date...and as far as repetitive ...all opeth is repetitive...ive heard many critics slag them for that

  • @fatguyaaron Blackwater Park was advertised? Didn't reach me... I only discovered it because I happened to see it being sold in an online auction.

  • @vidmnky Yeah, that album came out when I was in highschool, I remember seeing guitar mags with Black Water Park adds on every other page for months same with Dimmu Borgir's Puritania album That was how they did it for a while, an add on every other page, seems to have worked.

  • 5:45 the best fuking drum compatiton ever

  • Opeth confirmed Head Liner Bloodstock Open Air 13th Aug 2010 Catton Hall Derby

  • The intro riff sounds so doomish ;)

  • 3:26-3:35 is awesome...

  • woah, love the drums. _ -_-_-_*

  • they played this last night in NYC at their 20th anniversary show. Was amazing!

  • @vigcs Dude were you in the pit? The first of many Opeth shows I'm going to. It was incredible being in the same building with hundreds of other Opeth fans. in today's society it's so hard to find people who love music as ascended as Opeth. Happy 20 year Opeth!

  • @firef1yyy I was on the ground floor for all of BWP, but moved up to the third floor for the second half of the show, which turned out to be a mistake cause I couldn't see shit, haha. I think that was my fourth show...been to two in DC and one in Baltimore. Stay metal!

  • @firef1yyy Aww man, the only chance I'll ever get to see Opeth in the next few years is if they do a UK tour. Eh, I doubt that's gonna happen any time soon and it's too much of a trek to go down to London by myself. You're a lucky bastard. :P

  • @SpitfireMB they were in london in july at the high voltage festival

  • Im seeing them friday

    Im fuking excited

  • Opeth is so great. This song make me feel in another world.

  • @earsbleed or in a different time.

  • awesome. I'm going to see them tomorrow, in the Royal Albert Hall :D

  • @DIKZAKK111 me too! and they are gonna play this live if they keep the same sets as their last 5 gigs of this tour. In all of them they played the whole of Blackwater Park and then 1 song from each of their other albums woot!

  • @nikhilr1001 NOOO SPOILER

haha no I already knew, I'm fuucking exited. Im coming all the way from Holland to London, just for Opeth. maybe ill see you there :D haha

  • @nikhilr1001 Yeah they played all of BWP Then this, (TRACK LIST SPOILER) Advent, April Ethereal, The Moor, Hope Leaves, Wreath, Reverie/Harlequin Forest, and finally The Lotus Eater.

    Incredible show.

  • Actually Opeth used to bbe death metal, they said so themselves. I think by this time it is no doubt very progressive but thats up to opinion.

  • @Ironl909, there are 50 miniute vids on YT..

  • Opeth are mutch better than in flames!

  • Opeth = Death metal

In flames = Melodic death metal who have happened to fuck up on recent albums.

It's like comparing Dogs and horses. They're two different things.

  • I know that!

  • Opeth=Progressive Death Metal.

  • @MrCatFetish

Opeth aint death metal, its progressive metal

  • @Gi1BrO Progressive death metal.

  • @MrCatFetish

the only reason people call it death metal, it's because of the death metal vocals

  • @Gi1BrO That's the point, Progressive metal plus Death metal vocal makes it into a form of progressive death.

  • @kitzukiuchiwa2 well no shit! That's like saying an awesome meal is better than a bowl of dirt.

  • @kitzukiuchiwa2 In flames is terrible...

  • Old Opeth was such a clogged mess. Despite the fact this was extremely revolutional music, they didn't get 'good' until My Arms IMO. But that aside, there's not a single death band that will write completely soft songs, then heavy songs, then mixture songs. Band just don't do it, no band has yet to do it again, and Opeth gladly breaks every cliche rule. They are literally one in a million, and they are the true artists in death metal, period.

  • Bleak is my favorite song at the moment

  • I screwed up my last comment I meant I prefer it better when he sings, I've actually been listening to them non stop lately and once you look past all the growling and screaming they're amazing I can't get enough of them

  • there's no need to "look past" the growling and screaming because it's a metal band. they're called metal vocals. It is entirely possible, however, to get over it and just appreciate the music as a whole.

  • Which is what I'm doing, I appreciate all of Opeth their music tells just as much of a story as the lyrics do they're amazing.

  • Even if you dont really dig the growls, you must admit they are some of the best quality growls in prog.

  • I didn't care for them at first but I absolutely love every aspect of their music now. He is such a great vocalist with tremendous range, they're just my favorite band to listen to at the moment.

  • I prefer Opeth better when Mikael Åkerfeldt he has such a great voice, sometimes they lose me at the screaming and barking but aside from that I really like their instrumentals. I like the stuff they did on Damnation the best

  • i agree completely

  • Cool, the entire first part sounds a bit like early In Flames... or maybe the other way round, who knows :) but there are similarities!

  • In Flames wish they sounded like Opeth.

  • I don't even think they wish for that. They are doing their own thing (which they don't do bad). But this is not about In Flames, this is an Opeth song, and it freaking rips. Rock on.

  • @Nostrum84 yea youre right maybe i should read all comments before posting haha

  • @Smc316

    well said.

  • @Smc316 i so agree with you there lol

  • Doesnt Everyone lol I would love to sound like Mikael =]

  • @Smc316 In Flames isn't even close to the sound of Opeth. Lol.

  • @Megadedly EXACTLY.

  • @Smc316 Haha, yeah man.. no comparison, Opeth all the way \M/

  • @Smc316

Hey dude In Flames released their first album before Opeth, get your facts straight dude.

No offense to Opeth though, I love them as I do (old) In Flames.

  • @MetalGearNaked ACTUALLY both bands released their debut album in 1994 and considering neither of them became popular until the early 2000's I doubt it matters which one came a few months earlier.

I was saying Opeth formed in 1990, In Flames formed in 1993.

  • @Smc316

Yeah but neither In Flames nor Opeth had any releases out before their debut albums.

  • @Smc316 they never will Opeth is pure

  • @Smc316 every metal band wish to sound like opeth...

  • real music

  • Learn to spell retards.

  • Maybe when Mikael's done with his new style of vocals, he may come back to the original haunting ones that made him such a celebrity in metal music in the first place. Watershed is good but lacks what the earlier albums had. The songs are almost 'pushed' to reach the 10 minute + mark whereas in a track such as forest of October, the length makes sense. There are numerous great examples. The Band has evolved but i think it would be a great idea to revisit the older style.

  • You can't be serious...

  • I miss Opeth's old days, they were so much more raw. The intro growls were EPIC to say the least.

  • in the very beggining i hear a total chuck schuldiner influence

  • so right, at first hear I though this was bite the pain by death

  • Mikael Åkerfeldt is Wonderful Singer!!!

  • Try splitting the song in two parts :)

  • idky but this song sticks out alottt on the orchid album

  • 6:33 to 7:52 so good, one of the classic Opeth riffs

  • this is THE best and my most FAV EVER!!! lol! really touches my heart! LOVE this song!!! to bad it was cut short lol!! but even what you have here is AWESOME!!!

  • 2:33 - best growl of all time. It gives me this chills every time

  • I love the one at 1:17, so much emotion.
