What worked with the Archie/Mike chemistry is, Archie was uneducated but experienced in life. Mike was educated, but inexperienced. And both were opinionated blowhards. Of course, all the elements in this show were necessary for it to work as it did, but what Mike lacked Archie had, and what Archie lacked, Mike had. And all the actors, without exception, were tremendously talented.

This is one of the best sitcoms ever. At zero cost (99% of the scenes were filmed in Bunker's house and Kelsey's bar) and with a simple concept (generations gap) they worked miracles. The script was based on funny lines and the talent of the people involved. One might think that a sitcom with references to Watergate, Vietnam and all the 70s stuff would be rather unattractive today, but judging from the views, the show is still being loved by the new generations.

I watched this show religiously when I was a teen, but I don't remember this episode, which is hilarious. Not only was it the first time Archie called Mike a "Meathead" but Edith managed to get him to reluctantly allow Mike back in the house "just for dinner" -- the beginning of many long arguments.
