What interest rate do they pay? Why are all these women sitting around and listening? Is it some kind of public ritual similar to marriage where there are witnesses?

the video is very interesting, there are diffrent models of microfinance useed in different countries for example the rickshaw puller cards, the papa-mama cards. microinance is no panacea but certainly an effective initiative

This is awesome. I read a couple of articles on Microfinance and it's amazing how much something we take for granted in developed countries helps people in developing countries. People fail to realise what banks actually do for society and the commerce they facilitate. Not that all banks are perfect community members.

im finishing my economics degree soon,and microfinance is the only subject i find interesting.

no prob. went there for an MBA class at Rutgers...we went to the SKS Microfinance company's field office and received a bunch of material explaining the details of their loan programs. I can send you the docs via PDF if it helps your project.
