  • as to the "wax" argument: usually, at least in british english, you wax lyrical(ly) about something, and it means to talk about something with enthusiasm and interest. so maybe she's just playing about with the usual collocation of 'wax lyrically' (alanis often plays with language in her lyrics of course) or maybe it's just the north american variant of the phrase.

  • she is just perfection.

  • Infatuation junkies have in fact common features like those who take narcotics: they like the high of dopamine and other neurotransmitters

  • LOVE LOVE LOVE this song

and LOVE LOVE LOVE this video!!!!!! 5/5

  • mine too.....I love this along with Ironic, and Eight Easy Steps...I just love how she can take a scene and change them up as she does in those videos

  • what does the phrase 'supposed former infatuation junkie' mean?? I don`t understand the refrain at all! (( 'i sink three pointers, you wax poetically'.. what the hell is that?! Please!

  • an Infuation Junkie is a person who is infatuated with with the idea of being of infatuated....alanis does not say wax...she is saying u ask poetically

  • thank you.

there must be mistype in lyrics (

  • No! she is not saying u ask poetically.

I have the album and the text it is written:

"I sink three pointers and you wax poetically."

  • She does say "wax" ....it is also a verb, which can be used to mean to increase in intensity, quantity, power, ect...or she could have meant it as the British usage, which she IS Canadian and they have similar slang/dialect...which would be a fit of anger. Both of which would fit the dialogue of the song. Do your research, people. Use a dictionary.
