  • I was looking for a lesson for Dawn Penn "no no no"

I'm not a reggae player, so I'm not used with the beat, but I have a gig coming up and I have to sing it...

    So thank you very much!

    Cheers!

     thanks

    irie!

  • hey, thank you so much for posting this. many appreciate it

  • The strumming is the easy part Clare.. It's the middle fret board... the bar chords give me trouble.. You don't really explain what your fingers er doin.. the chords in detail would be good... for all your lessons...

  • nice voices

  • @claredowling - you're playing too many ghost notes to get the feel of some of the other instruments on the recording. You've got the feel of the music right though, and that's always the most important part. You're a good teacher. I'm just trying to help :)

  • your dog is very boring haha good luck !!!good job

  • Wow thanks your videos are awesome and they really help get those strokes down.

  • you forgot to tell me the notes to the song?????

  • you`ve got the reggae feeling baby...i love your guitar style and your voice :-)

  • tha t s very very cool you r great teacher i v already have to say thank u so much for tracy chapman my wife sig my dautgher play drum and i m play guitar big kisses

  • sweet vocals

  • it sounds like the blues...dunno why

  • omg its a dog behind yah. ty for vid btw:)

  • =) Syncopation is important in any style of music. Could you imagine the Carol of Bells without syncopation in the voices, guitars, bells or whatever else is used? It would sound 2 dimensional and weak. It's an awesome thing to learn no matter what is played to achieve greater depth in play. I think your video shows it in a simple enough manner to help anyone learn how to use syncopated rhythm, so good on ya

  • thanks for breaking it down... very helpful

  • you are great! GREAT TONE, GREAT TECHNIQUE AND A GREAT VOICE! Your dog is lucky :)

  • indeed, it even was in a famous belgian newspaper, with this girl on the cover :)

  • you have to mute the strings, you dont completely take your fingers off just rest them on the strings and it should mute

  • clare, i cant get the dead sound down right :( i take my fingers off the fret on the up motion, but it doesnt sounds dead at all. just open. is that because im on acoustic instead of electric guitar or am i missing something?

  • Hi there, my ring finger is on the A string 7th fret and my little finger is on the D string 7th fret. My first finger is on the G, B and E strings and my thumb is on the bottom E string. Clare :-)

  • that was meant to be 'careful, measured approach'. Oh well...

  • lol, maybe it helps :-)

  • Hi Clare. I enjoyed watching this, being an absolute novice at the guitar and your careful, measured was just what I needed. I just wondered if getting into the same state as the prostrate hound was a pre-requisite to playing? Please say yes...
