Sounds like he wasn't arrested, he was deported. He probably could have called collect if he didn't have the cash. But if he was living on the streets perhaps his parents refused to accept his call.

Darnell is wrong. when you get arrested, you get a 3 minute phone call. and you get a trial. he was sitting for 8 months w/o letting anyone know he was there? cmon.
