Leslie just had so many hits -- most likely all of her songs if released would have made it to the top -- surely this one and I love summer sym and fools rush in is way better than rick nelsons!
On St. Elsewhere, Lucy was out sick with a cold for a few days, then returned to work. Victor asked if it was too soon to come back. She said "I'm fine. I took my temperature this morning. 98.6." And Victor said, "It's good to have you back again."
This blend of two 60's hits ROCKS! The beautiful & talented Lesley ROCKS too! What a joy it was to hear this today for the first time. Thank you VERY much for posting this utterly delightful "blast from the past"! You've MADE my day & my week!

@Martywt43 Agree. This should have been a hit for Lesley in the late 60s. The flip side of the single was Summer Symphony, a beautiful ballad. Neither song was featured on any album (at the time). They are featured on the Bear Family 5-cd box set titled It's My Party.
@stevemichaels2020 Another song which should have been a hit for Lesley is Wedding Bell Blues! Too bad the Fifth Dimension got their version released before Lesley's version.
I knew both original hits (Keith and Spanky), but never heard Lesley's version until I found it on Napster years ago. Just love it! Thanks for posting.
This may have been one of Ms. Gore's last charted hits. I think this came out in 1969. I always have liked her a LOT, and still do even today! What a fine lady!
I believe another version of this tune was out by another artist during that year or two of 67/68. Although I can't recall the name of that group, anyone remember the name???
To the best of my knowledge, these two songs were Powers & Fischoff's only two top 10 hits, so it's only natural that someone would combine them together into one big mash-up. Spanky & Our Gang, Keith and Leslie Gore were all on Mercury records.

You are correct. Mercury Records released this song May 1969.

Just about everybody was covering each other's songs at the time. Not that it was a bad thing necessarily.

She always knew it but came out of the closet later.

I always thought "Brink Of Disaster" was written by the "98.6" writers. Was it?
JSG1951 4 years ago
It wasn't, and anyway, it certainly wasn't a top 10 hit. It only made it to #82.
