hahaha! i totally agree about the first saw movie then ending was ridiculous, but i think the other movies are a lil better but they keep coming out with more and more and its basically the same thing over an over again
High Tension is a solid pick for the number 1 slot. You got your cool cheap thrills like the gore and a woman diddling herself within the first act, but you also have extremely suspenseful scenes, a great atmosphere, and solid direction.
By the way, you're doing a great job on the videos sir. Keep up the good work.
I liked High Tension alot...until the ending. I was actually quite a fan of The Midnight Meat Train, but that might just be because of my love for Clive Barker.
Oh yeah, I forgot to repost about Koontz. Intensity was a hell of a great book and the TV movie was okay. I think that's the one they compare to High Tension...it is similar in the beginning but it is very different overall. There is another book he had a few years back that may be similar, too, but I haven't read it.
Good stuff. High Tension definitely jump-started the French horror renaissance. I would have had Hostel and Saw in my top ten (but I don't enjoy the Saw sequels I've seen). This past year or so I've been really impressesd with some of the new horror like Gutterballs, Laid to Rest, Last House on the Left Redux...I do think things are looking up and maybe the next decade will be amazing and return us to more of what we loved about the '70s and '80s. Good list.
